Luberfiner – P2062 This one is coming from a different manufacturer, in this case Trico. Luberfiner is one of Trico’s filter brands along with Champion Laboratories. Filters from these brands tend to be high quality and are sometimes used as OEM equipment by Ford (I’ve seen FL-820-S made by Champ Labs on brand new Fords). I find it interesting that that the design of the Luberfiner filter looks like a downsized version of a 6.0/6.4 Powerstroke FL-2016 filter. The reason for that is Champion Laboratories was sued for patent infringement by Parker Racor (maker of the FL-2016) over their design for a Motorcraft FL-2016 replacement filter. It appears that Champ didn’t forget how to make a filter like this after the suit. As for the Luberfiner filter itself, it seems pretty good. The flat plastic end-caps seem to be well secured to the filter media. That media appears to be of the cellulose variety. It also has a cage style plastic inner structure. It appears to be a good, middle-of-the-road, filter. It is made in China.
