I bought a new 250 Lariat in’17. I still had a company truck so mine sat in the garage a lot.
Just rolled over 40k miles recently. I really like the truck.. except the fuel mileage. I get 13 mpg empty, around 10 mpg pulling a 22’ trailer with a vehicle in it.
A tune + exhaust mods would probably...
Another diesel battery thing to mention. If you ever have a battery test bad (from age), go ahead & change them both. It’s more $ but it won’t leave you walking.
The way they are wired together as one, if one is bad.. the other is soon to fail.
No clue on the leaking battery. I’ve had several 250’s over the years & never had one leak.
The two batteries are needed to crank over that big high compression engine. Especially in cold climates. Glow plugs draw extra juice too.
Nice car!
Some don’t prefer silver. I never understood that one. Silver shows the body lines perfectly & looks sharp with bright wheels.
I’ve had CO’s, Sonic Blue, but have always like the Silver Cobra’s.
You can sand the welds lightly. Keyword lightly. I know of one that was sanded too deep & the guy had a leaking tank.
If the Shelby logo is important to you, I don’t see how they could be sanded enough to polish without trashing the logo.
A little black paint on the mounting tabs & bolts somewhat hides them from the reflection on the polished tanks. Fuzzy picture but you can get the idea.
I’d have to think any dash plastics would have faded after 20 years unless it lived 100% in a garage. The “perfect” match might be hard to accomplish.
Plastics are always off-gassing. My new truck windshield looks like someone smokes inside the truck, but I don’t.
