We are less than two weeks away from the opening of biggest extravaganza in the world of car customization—The SEMA Show. Held annually among the bright lights of Las Vegas, this meeting of the world’s aftermarket parts producers and sellers has also become a showcase for the OEMs to peddle their wares to the aftermarket.
As we get closer to the big show in Sin City, the hype levels are sure to escalate. We have just learned that Ford is working with 15 different car customizers that will showcase their modded 2015 Mustangs in Ford’s massive, 20,000-square-foot show booth.
Among the builders working on SEMA S550 projects are Galpin Auto Sport, Petty’s Garage, MRT, and many more. Expect to see tuned-up versions of both 5.0-liter and EcoBoost 2015 Mustangs. Likewise, you should see upgrades for the all-new suspension from the likes of Roush Performance and Steeda Autosports.
One of the projects, built by Petty’s Garage, has a charitable mission.
Decked out in Petty Blue and sporting a #43, this Roush-supercharged GT will eventually hit the auction block at Barrett-Jackson. When it is sold off, the proceeds will benefit the Victory Junction charity, which helps chronically ill children attend summer camp.
Another striking 2015 Mustang is Galpin Auto Sports’ Golden Anniversary Mustang. “We like the black and gold idea, and really wanted to get the color as close to 24-carat gold as possible,” Brandon Boeckmann, GAS operations manager, said.
Of course, there is more to this car than just gold 20-inch wheels and paint accents. It also has sequential LED front turn signals and a carbon-fiber splitter. A window in the hood reveals a gold-powdercoated Whipple supercharger pushing the combo to 725 horsepower. A Magnaflow exhaust helps it breathe, and Steeda suspension bits sharpen the handling.
Certainly there will be more SEMA Mustang news in advance of the show, but for now, enjoy this tease.
