If you plan on lowering your 2015 Mustang or just want to sharpen its handling with a performance alignment, chances are you’ll need a little help to get the setting just right. That’s where the suspension gurus and Maximum Motorsports come to the rescue. They’ve been building caster/camber plates for Mustangs since your author was young, and now they have a new set for the S550.
Lowering a Mustang can throw things off enough that the factory gear won’t let you adjust things back to their optimum settings. With Maximum’s new plates (PN Mm6CC-10; $247), you not only can set up your 2015 Mustang for improved handling, but you can optimize the tire wear. According to the company, even excessive negative camber resulting from lowering a new Mustang up to 2.5 inches can still be corrected with its plates.
Using a unique spherical-bearing mount, the Maximum plates are said to eliminate the deflection of rubber or urethane bushings and precisely locates the strut shaft. Despite this solid mounting, the arrangement also allows for full articulation of the suspension. And, better yet, the adjustments to both caster and camber can be easily set right at the top of the strut tower.
And, if you know anything about Maximum Motorsports parts, you know they are rugged. These caster/camber plates feature main plates that are laser-cut from high-grade steel, which is said to be far stronger that mild steel or even chrome-moly. All the parts are also zinc plate or powdercoated to resist corrosion, so you don’t have to worry about them lasting.
