SVTP kicks off Mustang Week with a Happy Hour Cruise-In

By Steve Turner

As you know, SVTP is headquartered in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, so we have a bit of a home field advantage as Mustang Week comes to town. And, if you are a loyal member of the site, you can often benefit from our local knowledge. Since many people come into town before the official events take place, SVTP kicked off the week with an unofficial welcome event at Tupelo Honey Café.

A staff favorite, this restaurant offers delicious Southern cuisine and offers unique beverage options like Gin & Tonic on tap. Unfortunately the weather was pretty spotty on Monday afternoon, but we had a great turnout in spite of the rain. A good time was had by all, and many of the SVTPers rode out the rain by sticking around for dinner.

Of course, before the rain hit, we headed out to the parking lot to capture the attendees’ rides, which made for a great little car show to kick off the week.

Brad and Nina Gusler drove out to the SVTP shindig in the world’s quickest EcoBoost Mustang. As Brad would say, this is doing “street car stuff,” and we would see this car driving to events all over Myrtle Beach, which is definitely impressive.

We aren’t sure what was more popular in 2015, the Terminator or the Terminator nose. Chris Raffelo brought out his Terminated Bullitt and brought along a strong New Edge contingent with him.

Your scribe has a soft spot for Fox Mustangs, and the ASC McLaren-modded Fox is one of the rarest around. Only 1,791 of these cars were converted from 1984 to 1990, and this black convertible is in great shape.
