It’s hard to believe that the world’s largest automotive aftermarket extravaganza—The SEMA Show—ended a week ago, but time flies. Obviously there were a lot of Ford vehicles and products making news at the show, but the undisputed headliner of the event was Ford Performance’s reveal of the 2016 Cobra Jet.

A little over a week ago, Ford Performance unleashed its next-gen Cobra Jet drag car, which is capable of 8-second quarter-mile e.t.’s right out of the box. The Ford GT racer in the background is quite the performer too.

The factory performance division is set to sell 50 of these purpose-built, turnkey drag cars. While they are built on the assembly line, Cobra Jets do not carry vehicle identification numbers. Instead they are sold as Ford Performance Parts products available from North American Ford dealers under part number M-FR500-CJ for $99,990. There are only two options: the familiar snake graphics for $1,195 and a wheelie-bar setup for $1,995.

The cars are being constructed right now—25 in Oxford White and 25 in Deep Impact Blue, and some should be delivered before the end of th year. However, if you can’t get enough Cobra Jet and you couldn’t make it to SEMA last week, you can experience the excitement of the reveal right here…

A lot of news broke last week—from the bevy of gear in the New Product Showcase to the reveal of Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s new RTR drifter—so there was a little something for everyone. We hit on many of the highlights while the show was ongoing last week, but for even more awesome Fords and new products, check out the gallery below.
