What are some good blowers that I should seek to purchase under these premises:
1. I want to run like 8-10 pounds now as my internals are stock, and I want to avoid shattering a rod by throwing massive boost at my engine.
2. I want to have a blower with the capabilities of making far more than 8-10 pounds of boost down the road if/when I choose to/am forced to rebuild my motor with some forged internals.

I have never owned a boosted car, so I know little about blowers. I have only picked up some knowledge by reading threads on here, and from hanging out with my friend with a 2.6 KB '03.
How many pounds of boost is the D1SC capable of producing? Also, does the D1 differ from the D1SC by the sole fact that it is not self-contained? Can someone please give me a quick run through of the lineups of Vortechs, Prochargers, and whatever else would fit on my car? (models and their capabilities and how they differ from one another.)
Any advice and knowledge is appreciated.
