by deleting the pcv or the egr valve, your forcing the intake to suck in more cool fresh oxygen than before. Thats why a tune is needed. Normally with everything still hooked up like from the factory, the engine is recirculating spent gasses from the exhaust. Much of the oxygen had already been depleted so it offers nothing but to clean up emissions by further burning excess fuel from the exhaust. The pcv allows oily vapors from the crankcase to enter the engine. This vapor has no oxygen in it. Its simply there to keep those vapors from entering the atmosphere by burning it through the engine. You can gain power by deleting both of those and forcing more oxygen into the motor. Just think about how much cleaner the intake and valves will be over a period of time...
