: Serial Cable:
Standard straight-through DB9 (9-pin to 9-pin) RS232C serial cable (6 foot cable is more than enough). Check your computer to see if you have a male or a female port on the back, as some are different. You will need a male end to go into your Predator.
(Radio Shack Part # 26-117, 6-ft DB9 male to DB9 female shielded cable.)
2: Power Adapter:
CLASS 2 TRANSFORMER
OUTPUT : 12VDC 1000mA (1 Amp)
(Radio Shack Part # 273-1776)
Note: Plug Tip is 2.5mm x 5.5mm, female, and center is positive.
(Radio Shack Part # 273-1717)
Radio Shack normally carries both of these items. Most Wal-Marts have the Power Adapter (multi output version).
Question : I just got a new computer and it doesn't have a serial port at all! Do you know of an adapter that will allow me to connect the Predator to my USB port ?

yes i would like anwer too, as I am in same boat. On top of that, the adaptor cable had a 25 male and my laptop port was male too, so i had to buy another adaptor to go on the serial cable. Im thinking of taking it all back and getting a 9 pin to USB cable.

a VGA cable could be used, provided you could find an adapter that would work or you modified the cable. Personally it wouldnt be worth it since any adapter and or time spent woul dbe more than a trip to Radio Shack, so your best bet is to use an actual serial cable.
If you are like me and your motherboard do NOT have a serial port pick up a USB to Serial adapter. You'd install the drivers (if needed) and you are off to the races. Radio Shack sells these too along with other companies like Belkin.

quote=LightningMAS;4465643]i need someone to help me get my datalog info from predator to CMR Dat... ! how?[/quote]
I borrowed a friends Predator and wrote up instructions on capturing, uploading and viewing the data, as a thanks to my friend for letting me borrow his predator. Hopefully this information would be helpful to others too. I have not tried my instructions on a new Predator, so this information was for the U7146 model only.
Writing/Reading/Playing Logged Data
Using the Diablo Predator U7146
Software Version v.9r05
Write up By Tom (3gGT)

Collecting vehicle logged data:
1. Attach Predator to the OBDII port
2. From the Predator menu, select Diagnostics
3. Select from the menu Real Time Data
4. Turn the ignition key on and select Continue from the menu
5. Select advanced wot (or another, if you prefer) from the menu and press the enter key
6. Select Show all from the menu and press the enter key
7. Select yes to the question on logging data for later play back
8. When you have completed collecting data, proceed to step 9 below
Note: You should see data being collected on the Predator screen.
Uploading the datalog from the Predator for playback:
9. Attach Predator to the OBDII port (ignition off)
10. From the Predator menu, select Options
11. Select Troubleshooting from the Predator menu
12. Stop here!
13. If you haven't already, install CMR_DATA_200_Installer.exe on your laptop (can be downloaded from Diablo)
14. Make sure you have purchased a USB to Serial cable (can be purchased from Fry's Electronics for $19.99 or online from Radio Shack.) Note: It will not work with a serial cable. When Windows XP says it found the new hardware let it find the driver, as the USB to Serial cable from Fry's does not come with the driver. You may have to install the driver twice, for it to become fully functional. Yes, I know that is a bit strange, but I use to write Ring 0, kernel level drivers for Windows and this is feasible.
15. With the USB to Serial cable connected to both the Predator and your laptop proceed with the com port setup, then proceed to the next step below
16. From Windows start menu select start/All Programs/Diablosport/CMR_DAT_FORD/Launch CMR_DAT.exe
17. From the CMR_DAT program, select Options/Port Settings from the menu
18. I used com port 4 and set it to 115K Baud rate (check Windows System/Device Manager for the port that the USB to Serial Port is using)
19. From the CMR_DAT program, select Options/Get Log from Predator from the menu. Give it a log file name to save to.
20. From the Diablo, select Log Upload from the Options/Troubleshooting menu. You should see the status on the Predator indicate the percentage complete.
21. Once the file transfer is complete, start the Diablo DataViewer 3.1 software on your laptop or desktop system. This can be downloaded from the Diablo website.
22. From the DataViewer application, select File/Open Log from the menu. Open the data log that you uploaded.
23. Select the PIDs you are interested in from the tree on the left hand side of the screen. Then press the right arrow button in the menu to observe the PID(s) over time.
