Extracting the Original Backup or Extra Tune.
1: On the Predator, select "Performance Tune", choose the Tune that you wish to use, and select "Install Tune".
If this is the first time using the Predator on your vehicle, the Predator will now read the contents of your PCM as the
Original Backup. If you are just wanting to get the Original Backup from the Predator you can just unplug the Predator after it
says that the Original Backup has been saved, and move on to Step 3. If you want a Custom Tune built off the Performance Tune, you
will need to continue on and select Install Tune, and let the Predator install the Performance Tune into your PCM.
2: After this Performance Tune has been written to the PCM, go to "Options", "Troubleshooting", and select "Read Extra Tune".
This will read the current tune that is installed in the PCM and save it so it can be transferred to your PC.
This will normally take around 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 minutes.)
3: Once the Extra Tune has been read, open the DiabloSport Downloader, make sure that the proper COM port is selected,
as well as the proper baud rate (57,600 for EEC V vehicles other than the Lightning Predator which needs to be 115200)
If you do not know which COM port to use, you can check what port it is setup on in the Windows Device Manager.
To get to the Device Manager, select the Start Menu, Control Panel, System, click on the Hardware tab and select
Device Manager. Scroll down to Ports, click on the + to the left of it and to the right of Communications Port will be
your COM port #.
4: Connect your Predator to your PC using the Serial Cable, and power the Predator up using the power adapter.
5: On the Predator go to "Options", "Custom Tune", "Export Custom Tune", and select "Extra Tune". The display
will start counting up to 100%. Don't select "Continue" yet.
6: On the DiabloSport Downloader software on your PC, click "Get Tune File From Predator". Now you will
select "Continue" on the Predator. The file will now begin to transfer to your PC. Once the file is finished
transferring, you will be asked if you want to save the file as an Ori file, select No, and name the file something
you can remember such as bob_backup.frg etc...
Note: If the file does not transfer using 57600 for the baud rate, change it to 115200 and try the again.
Installing the "Custom Tune" into your Predator.
1: On the Predator go to "Options", "Custom Tune", and select "Import Custom Tune". Don't select "Continue" yet.
2: On the DiabloSport Downloader software on your PC, click "Send Tune File To Predator", select the Custom Tune that you
wish to use, and click on "Open". A "File Transfer Status" dialog box will open up. Now you will select "Continue" on the Predator.
The file will now begin to transfer to your Predator.
Note: If the file times out, or if you aren't getting any communication, recheck your COM Port and baud rate settings making sure
they are the same as you previously used when transferring the file from the Predator to the PC.
4: Your Predator will now display "Custom Tune" on the main menu and you are now able to install it into your vehicles PCM.
Note: To erase the Custom Tune from the Predator, and go back to the default Perforamnce Tunes included in the Predator, go to "Options",
"Custom Tune", and select "Erase Custom Tune".
