how to pull a pulley

step 1: cover fender so you dont scratch the paint.

Step 2: remove 3 10MM bolts from the cover.

Step 3: remove "christmas tree" from blower snount. on early models this will be a bolt.

Step 4: place 1/2" wrench into belt tensioner to remove belt. be careful not to bend tensioner.

Step 5: Place amazon Puller over pulley. be sure to place a small about of grease on threads of puller (center bolt only). make sure puller is square.

Step 6: support wrench with hand under head. this step is a 2 person job. have a 2nd person place a bar in the puller to hold it in place.
a loud "pop" will sound when the pulley is loose.

Step 7: place a very small amount of clean grease on shaft. then whipe it off.

Step 8: make sure the install is set up like this to be sure not to marr the snount

Step 9:place pulley on install tool and thread install tool into blower shaft. be sure to make sure pulley is square on shaft.

Step 10: tighten bolt on install tool to press pulley on. have 2nd person holt install tool with a socket wrench and use your other hand to support wrench.

Step 11: back nut off of washer on the install tool then back install tool out of blower shaft.

pulley will pressed dead flush on blower shaft.

last thing to do is place belt back on.

They are "fender grippers" from snake oyl products. They are an awesome product, great protection and the don't slip.

Wow...that tool is thus far the best tool I have seen. So I have to say Amazon's tool is a good tool. I take back what I said about the tool in a post I put up, the SFPHQ sucks.

Smiley pulley swap

I can't thank Amazon enough. What a puller, and with these instructions the swap went like clock work.

Thanks Amazon

What is "Christmas Tree" from blower snout? Is that like a plastic piece in the hole or something?

If you don't save the Xmas tree, won't that be a dead give away if you have to take the vehicle in for warranty? You can always switch pulleys back and reinstall the 'tree and MAYBE they won't catch it.

I've given up on the warranty thing... If something goes wrong, with the mods we all do, we might as well just pay for it..

great write up. How much is the puller? My friend has the ASP junk. Everytime you use it you have to buy another piece for it.
