Bought my cobra reps a while ago.. wanting svt center caps!

So i purchased my wheels through AM around 4-6 months ago. Service is great through these guys, no doubt about it, but when i recieved my wheels the OEM SVT center caps didnt fit. I sold my OEM wheels with the svt center caps, so ive been using the AM center caps

I'd like to buy some center caps, but $50 per cap!? Why are these things so much money? $25 per cap would be a much more resonable price. I can bet that if these were $25 per cap or even less AM would see the these things selling a heck of alot more. Is there any way AM can do a deal with people here on svtperformance for these caps?

Thanks for the inquiry, JDUB!

I completely agree the FRPP centercaps are outrageously expensive, but unfortunately, that's the price you pay to play with Ford Racing. If I were to tell you our cost, not our price, but what Ford Racing charges us, you'd know why we can't do $25 a centercap. Ford Racing is the top of the Mustang world and they charge top of the Mustang food-chain prices. They know their name sells products at any price and that people will pay what they want, not what the customer wants to pay. You won't find them for any cheaper anywhere else. We literally make zero money on them.

Remember, we do offer the 6% forums discount, which will help a bit, but I understand that's still $180+ for 4 centercaps. If you'd like the code, please feel free to PM me directly and I can hook you up!

so those ford racing SVT centercaps AM sells will fit on the Chrome 2003 Style Cobra wheels AM sells for the 03-04 cobras? i have a 2003 cobra with the polished aluminum factory wheels, but i really want the chrome wheels, and I was wondering if the center cap off my stockers would fit or not.

They fit diameter-wise, however, the thickness of the base of the center-cap and the length of the "fingers" that hold the cap in the wheel prevent the "fingers" from snapping in place in some cases. The way to remedy this is to use a Dremel tool and remove some of the underside of the base of the centercap, to help it sit down in the wheel completely. This will help the "fingers" reach to snap into place.

You're basically reducing the thickness of the base of the centercap, to help it sit down a little further, allowing the fingers to grip the inside lip of the wheel. It's not hard to do, just takes some patience/Dremel-work.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions in the future. Have a good one!

thanks for the info. if i wanted to just purchase the centercaps you guys sell for the replica wheels those would fit correct? all that dremel work u just described would only be if i wanted to put my factory centercaps on the replica wheels, correct?

also, if i went with a 17x10.5's u sell with the 315/35/17's on the rear would it rub anything, like my exhaust (borla stinger catback). and do I need any modifications whatsoever? or will it just bolt right on? i am on stock suspension now, and probably will cut about 1 coil of each spring in the near future. thanks again.

FWIW I'm running a 315/35/17 out back and there are no issues. A 1/4 inch spacer would make it look even more killer.

cool thanks bro. I have pretty much made my decision (as soon as I get the funds), but you have solidified it for me, i'm stoked about getting the staggered replica chrome wheels. that meaty 315 will make my 275 look like my wife's honda fit tires lol.

Our SVT centercaps are Ford Racing units, the same ones that come on the car from the factory, so they will need to be modified as well. This hasn't been the case for every wheel. So, before you put new wheels on the car, pop your old centercaps out and try them in the new wheels. If they fit/hold tight, you'll be good to go. If they need to sit down more, just use the Dremel trick.

As for those wheels and tires fitting, all you'd need is the low-profile IRS bolts (if yours is an IRS model--didn't see you have your year/model listed anywhere) to make them work on an IRS car.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any questions in the future. Have a great evening!
