Upgrading from Vortech V2 S-trim to the Si-trim

Hey Guys
I'm about to do this upgrade for my 97 Cobra. Just wondering if anyone else has any experience with this and how much improvement there was...Thanks in advance..

Well since no one else has said anything..

I just dont see the point. After the money you'll spend, in the end, you'll still have an S Trim. Why not call Vortech and ask how much it'll cost to upgrade to a T or better yet, a YSI Trim? It'll obviously be more, but worth it in the end

Well to be honest I just bought the whole setup but the exact mileage on the headunit was unknown. The upgrade to the Si is only about $350 and from what I understand the Si makes more low and midrange power which would be great on these 96-98 Cobras. It really is a homerun if you look at the numbers on it, only flows 50cfm less then a T Trim ($1000) and is 6% more efficient then the previous S-trim. Should be a good performer...

So you upgraded, which means you traded in your existing one for this one? 350 bucks should be ok as long as you get what you expected.

Who did you do this with? Vortech?

Yes I'm doing it with Vortech. But I'm not swapping headunits. The only way you can do that is using their exchange policy. If I did it that way and just basically bought a new headunit they would give me $1000 at best which would leave mwith about $1300 left to pay so I didn't do that. But for $350 I can have my existing headunit upgraded with the new impellar and volute. For a little more I can have all the bearings and seals replaced to which I prob will do since then I basically wil have a new one....

I have the SI but I didn't previously have an S trim so I can't comment on the difference.
As you know the SI is closer to the T trim than the S trim (1150 cfm). I had a problem with making too much power for the stock short block even with the 3.6 pulley. It definitely starts building boost quickand I'm making 6 psi @ 4000 rpm and 10 psi @ 6000 rpm.

Also while it's at Vortech plan on the minor rebuild too. Total cost will be around 800 with both.
