That depends upon how much money you spend on each car, the sky, or I should say the wallet is the limit. But is that a comparision? The real question is, how fast is it "as it came from its manuf." with no mods?? Anyone can spend $$$ and make something faster. We know that from Ford, the 00R and 03/04's cover the 1/4 mile in equal times, some tests are faster per car, some slower, but the average is equal between the two. Those tests are in magazine after magazine when they were tested new, the question is, how fast did they go in the magazine tests with your right foot on the floor in high gear?<<That answers "how fast it is". The Ford press release below has some pretty impressive statements, the first and last sentences are especially interesting. My question is, has any production Ford Mustang been able to achieve a speed higher than 170mph as provided by Ford for magazine testing? <<(Car and Driver magazine got 177mph out of an 00R) If not, the first sentence in this 2000 Ford press release is still valid even today, 7+ years after the fact.
i personally wouldn't by an R over a termie, but that's where my tastes lie.. don't get me wrong, i love the 00R but the terminator gets my vote.. cheaper, faster - for the obvious reasons 8-)
Now why would you want to come in here and starting poking us with a stick like that?

I enjoy those pokes, as many people have opinions but very little, if any facts, to back them up. I appreciate and enjoy the Terminators, they are great cars, but.......the documented facts are, there are other equally strong or even stronger Mustangs that have been built by Ford, some before, and some after the 03/04 Cobra production.

1/4 mile times do not count in the Cobra R forum. Those times only count in the Termi section! The only times we care about in here are lap times!

95 Cobra R... #4 of 250..."Rosie's Diner Car"
This is turning into a mileage discussion forum again, thought it was a Forsale site, I will sell my 93R for $100.000 has 43k miles on it and climbing. No longer care, in 30 more years it's still an r and who the hell ask how many miles is on a 65R 350? All of them worth nearly half Million bucks. Just my opinion is all
Why would you expect things to change? Same cast of characters posting in here as always. Besides when a SVT R turns 30ish, will we still be able to drive them? Not likely, they will be trailered and hauled by what electric or fuel cell trucks to and from "The Antiques RoadShow"....

93 SVT Cobra #2205 - Garage Art - Original Owner
Rob we agree on a lot of stuff, However the 03/04 Cobra is the Fastest Production Cobra/Mustang EVER BUILT! Find me one Stock Boss 429, Shelby Cobra R, that Runs 12.40 quarter mile times. I have a 9K mile 03 Cobra went 12,46 at 119 BONE stock with 46 Miles on it. and I am sure with some weight loss it will smoke any 2000 R on a road corse as well. Just my 02.
As the title says, I am considering selling my R. I am sure I will regret it later, but here goes...
This car is somewhat modified, but all original parts are with the car other than the original h-pipe and cat back.(did not come with the car when I bought it) I am the second owner and have had the car about 3 years. Modifications are as follows: Factory style air conditioning (looks to be all Ford original parts), works perfectly, Recaro sport seats (Cobra R style without the logo), original seats wrapped in plastic, AFR 180cc aluminum heads with .540 lift hyd roller cam, Jet Hot coated original headers, all original fasteners, smogpump, etc. still on the car and functioning, Bassani catted X-pipe with Magnaflow stainless mufflers and Flowmaster polished stainless 2.5 inch tailpipes, Downs Ford "box" upper intake with 75mm throttle body and 80mm mass air, upgraded brake rotors with braided lines and cooling ducts (I don't have the original rotors or lines), Kenwood stereo with flip face(looks like block off when car is off), battery in trunk, 255lph fuel pump in tank(fuel cell was rebuilt previous to my purchase and I have the receipt and certfication sticker), Steeda shifter, new factory tan leather steering wheel replacing stock plastic wheel, 3m clear bra(removeable) applied to front of the car, new BFG G-force tires, maybe 1 or 2 more things, but this is what I remember for now...
Obviously the car comes with the original window sticker, SVT certificate, and owners booklet supplement. It also comes with an aircraft log book(original owner is a pilot) and receipts(a lot) that date and document all maintenance and modifications. Synthetic fluids since day one, trans and diff fluids have been changed , etc.
At my asking price, the car also comes with: New 95 Cobra R radiator in the box, new Cobra r oil cooler core in the box, new de-gas bottle in the box, new 94-5 Cobra tan floor mats(very rare), only used for shows, fitted car cover, vinyl bra, yellow BFG Cobra R banner, 95 Cobra r poster, Mac non-catted pro-chamber, and of course the GT-40 heads, 5.8 upper intake, etc.
By the way, this car dynoed at 335 rwhp, 356 torque with the stock computer and injectors. It should benefit from a custom tune and maybe 30lb injectors, but runs fine and I went 12.8 @110 mph last time at the track on the stock tires...
The car has just turned 40,0XX miles, but it should be obvious that it has been highly maintained and pampered. Paint is excellent with minimal chips, and the interior is close to new. Anyone would be surprised at the mileage on it based on condition. It has been garaged since new other than traveling, the black plastic mirrors and cowl trim are shiny black, not faded and have not been replaced. The underside of the car is nice as well and the frame rails are not beat up and it has never had subframe connectors or a roll bar installed. The fuel cell does have a minor scratch on it from backing up to a curb, but it is underneath and again--minor.
Sorry for such a long post, but i am very proud of the car... My price is $26000 with everything mentioned. I may put it on e-bay in a week or so, but I thought I'd post it here first. I work a lot of hours but could take some pictures this week-end for a serious buyer, please don't waste my time if you're not serious...PM me for my phone number or e-mail address. I am in San Antonio, TX.

1995 Cobra R #145

No contest, if they (03/04's) run 12.40's all day long, run after run, you are right and I am wrong. I do not see many other 03/04 owners boasting of those kind of times in stock as delivered to the dealership form, especially after a few runs when heat takes its toll. But if that is the case, the 03/04 is definitly "quicker" from point A to point B vs. the repeated 12.50's achieved by MM&FF on an 00R, but 159mph (factory limited) is definitely not "faster" than 170+mph no matter what two cars you are comparing.
To me comparing 12.46 as you have posted, to 12.51 MM&FF (3/2001, pgs.52-57) posted on an 00R is hardly a difference in 1/4 mile times between the two cars, is it? Being that close, can it realistically be said that the 03/04 is infact consistantly faster/quicker than the 00R? or are they about even in the 1/4 mile as I have said at the beginning of this discussion about "faster"?
Another question could be..............are high 12.40's for the 03/04 and low 12.50's for the 00R "normal" everyday times for these cars? I have not seen that to be true. Between the two of them they usually seem to run in the 12.7's on a good pass and each can run slower on a not so good pass, even into the low 13's.
I will not be responding to this subject other than my reply below to Wheelhopper, since we are on the For Sale/Wanted thread. I will be happy to discuss it further in a new thread related to these two cars, if one is started.
^sounds like a grudge match that needs to be settled. Where and when is all I want to know?
And to keep this post on official thread topic, I will sell my 95R if the price is right.
It would be cool to see these two cars driven by the same knowledgable driver, tested run after run and see which car prevails in consistant 1/4 mile times, but there can be "0" mods, not even ice on the intake.
A terminator may be quicker, but not faster(as in lap times) than a 00R...stock. I think I can speak for most in here in saying, we could give a crap less about drag racing.
On a track, the 00R will be turn faster lap times and do it consistantly.
asperformance,
If you want to debate this, start a new thread. It has been a long time since this subject has been discussed, would be cool to see everyones opinions.

Rob wanted to debate it, I was clearly stating the facts. No debeate needed make sure to tell Rob that too. have had 4 03 cobras all went pretty much same times, 12,40 to 12,80's one did make a 12,20 pass but was a fluke. Will make new post sorry about that.

Nope, not me, read further back. Post #23 is where the debate began. I just added facts to support the 00R, since this is a Cobra R forum and many have forgotten (or never knew) the facts.
I called on this 00R today. The guy was not willing to Email me any photos, and said "You've seen Mustangs before.. this one is nice. Take my word for it." I was serious in calling, and really interested. But, I'm 4 hours north of him.. and would like a couple pics of the car before I make the drive to see it. Is that too much to ask?
He said most of the miles on the car are track miles. I'm OK with that fact, as I plan to track one too. The car is located in So Cal.
Wow, you car looks great! I agree, the paint looks terrible in the one pic that is shown. I'm guessing (hoping) it's just a bad picture. That's why I was asking for a couple shots to be Emailed. Just seemed odd he was so unwilling.
The guy WAS very cool about answering questions. But, he did say the car did not have a cooler on the diff. Isn't that a "no no" for track 00R cars?

I don't know the car personally.... I do know that it has been for sale in AutoTrader for at least a year now. In the previous pictures I have seen of the car it had Forgeline wheels on it. It was advertised with Bassani exhaust too. He has dropped the price quite a bit over the year. I think he started out asking ~$50K. He porbably is tired of sending pictures to tire kickers.... If I was serious and ready to buy a car. I would drive the 4 hours to look at it in person. The seller can make the pictures look as good (or bad) as he wants them, so on a car like this they really don't tell you much anyways. I can say the few better pics I have seen of the car it is always covered in dust and sitting on gravel.
Now might be the time to show him a serious buyer and make a serious reasonable cash offer. It sounds like he is tired of playing games with non-buyers and would most likely like to end the car selling circus. If you don't want to carry all the cash with you. I would at least take $2K with you for a serious deposit and make an offer..... if you don't want the Forgeline wheels or extra exhaust offer him $35K or ~$37K with everything. Worst he can say is NO.
