Hi Robert.....I sold my 2000R for about 58K, with a little less wrapping, but a wrapper none the less (60 miles)...Basically minus the white plastic and a few other items.......The ebay car is in a condition where it would not show very well in a Mustang Show because of the over-use of the white protective film....It covers too much of the car.....Most of the wrappers we own do not have an over-usage of white film, if any....Also, being in manufacturing, and using this type of film, I do know that the light-tack adhesive, if not removed, becomes brittle, and is almost impossible to remove with age.....I don't remember Ford every using this much white film on it's vehicles to this day.....If anyone out there purchased a new 2000R, we would sure like to know if this amount of film was normal.......Also, I agree with your characterization of the bids on this auction as being somewhat suspect...........

Bruce - I feel dumb!!

I realized that I know who had this $90K+ 2000R listed on eBay!!

The seller called me this afternoon. I have talked with this person before about topics discussed on this forum, but did not put the eBay user name together with this person. This person rarely posts on this forum, but does monitor it regularly. At first when I mentioned possible Cobra R's being under the covers, in the background of the eBay picture they thought I knew they were the seller, but later in the discussions, by my questions and comments about this auction they realized that I might not have put 2 and 2 together, I had not.

To answer some of the questions about this $90K 2000 Cobra R............

The car had a $100K reserve, the seller pulled it off when it hit $90,100. $75K or so was the "expectation" for this car and the seller thought that there was no way it would get anywhere near $100K. The car was pulled early because "if " it did hit $100K reserve, the seller is a person who would honor the winning bid, but did not at all expect it to get near that point, and really did not want, or expect it to meet reserve, but it was getting too close to chance.

This is not the original owner of this car.

It was not originally sold at Jackie Jones, however the car has come across the floor carpet protectors at some point in the last 8 years, however the current owner does know Jackie Jones personally, and has mentioned their relationship in past conversations with me.

There was no shill bidding involved as the car was really not expected to get anywhere near its high bid (K90K+) before it was pulled. Basically, I was told, "I want to make sure I can feed my children if I needed to sell some cars".

Them chillens, would be eating well!! Filet and/or Lobster anyone?

To the person/seller who called me, thanks, I had not put 2 and 2 together relating you and this eBay auction.

Why sell a car if you don't really want to.

Wasting people's time.

700,000 Americans lost their houses in Nov./07 according to news sources.

Recession soon??????

Cars to be sold to pay the bills?????

The answer to your first question, the seller would have to answer that. But bottom line is, the car was not sold, because it didn't have to be sold.

In an attempt to answer the doom and gloom.......This seller was amazed to see a late model car like this Cobra R bidding so high just before Christmas when the economy is "supposedly" in such bad shape.

BTW- I heard that Christmas retail sales are up 30% this year in the USA? How can this be??

The last question.... At some point in time, and we know not when, we will no longer be the owners of anything that we now call ours. At that point, the people who are still here will have to feed the mouths we have left behind, or are unable to provide for. <<These are my thoughts only, and maybe the sellers? Some want to keep track of their assets and make sure that what they leave behind, will take care of the who they leave behind? I don't know, that is only a guess?

I read in today's paper that the Americans are in more debt in 2007 than ever.

That's just the way it is.

USA is heading into a recession according to economists.

I am Canadian, and could retire when I was 39 and that was over 5 years ago.

I love the USA.............................Americans are very friendly.

My sister lives in New York with her Medical doctor husband.

Merry Christmas to all!

Michael - Merry Christmas to you and everyone!!

I can't vouch for how the "sales are up", in fact it depends upon the news outlet, some are saying it is down, but either way, it most likely is slipping the plastic to buy the gift. All the stores care about and report, is the merchandise being bought, the payment is the buyers problem. It kind of reminds me of the many home loans that are defaulting as you had mentioned, in some/many cases it is like leasing an Cadillac Escalade on a Ford Explorer income. What do people expect??

We should get back to the "For Sale and Wanted".

It's a little off topic now............................

Great one!

It took months to get the car into Canada.

There is only 11 00R's in Canada, and this one is staying put!

Happy New Year!

I agree, but just a few months ago many on this forum said that 2000 Cobra R's were few and far between at $40K or less, and I disagreed and found multiple examples after that, for $32K-$39.5K. It seems like things changed overnight. I think the 93R snuck up in $$$ on all of us. NOW, I feel that it can realistically be said that 2000R's under $40K are a thing of the past with very few exceptions, and a recent 14K mile car selling for $60K. The 1995 Cobra R is now the only R-model left at a "reasonable price". If anyone feels that they may want a 95R, now is the time to buy!! I said that about all of the R's in 2003/04, but now it is down to one R, the 95 model, now is the time.

R

I plan on winning the lottery soon so I put a hold on it....................awe just wishful thinking. Maybe in my next life, ya think? The rarest Mustang I owned was a 20th anny that I raced for awhile.

Thanks for the lead on this one. I spoke to the seller and he is expecting a deposit but we'll wait and see how that goes. I will buy the car if this other deal falls through. Sounds like a very nice car. He is firm at $55K which I think is a fair price in light of the market. If anyone knows of a very low mileage '00R please let me know. I would also be interested in a '93R with low miles but I doubt anyone would want to let theirs go.
