Well, the car finally left the friendly confines of C&M Performance on Wednesday night. There may be a few people that possibly left their graves in neighboring cemeteries that night. Holy crap! I already ordered mufflers for the car!
I was there dropping my engine off by Marv's that night and that is one of the loudest damn cars I have ever heard..........race cars included (echoing off the walls certainly made it louder). The beast sounded very good.
Congrats Bruce and I'm glad it's finally running right and when you're all done and tuned into the car on the track then it's all worth it.
Wow, I missed this by a few days! Glad to see her run and that you finally got to bring her home! I can't wait to see the track vids and hopefully in person at some point. Good luck getting all the power to the ground with it though

Sorry to make you work on your car with ear muffs on!

It will be like driving my R with street tires on it. Maybe it's going to be fun burning rubber all the way up the hill to 6 at Road America!?
I signed up to instruct at the Windy City BMW event at Gingerman at the end of the month to shake the car down. Instructors have the track all day Friday so I should have some quality time to get used to the car.
Bruce - What are the exact dates for this event? Depending what I have going on, might swing up there to see your new beast.

Haven't visited this thread is a while. The blu car seems to be coming along nicely. Didn't realize you opted for a OHV motor over a cammer. I suppose that is to keep things simple and some pork off the nose. Is there a site with more pics I can see of the chassis?

Russ:
Post #4 in this thread has the link to the original chassis build. I'm sure you've seen it.
The only thing I've done to the suspension so far is install my KB Delrin kit into the IRS. I'm sure you saw that thread also?

I'm running the exhaust that came with the car until I get used to the power level and how the car drives.
My nephew Adam and I spent the night putting a "fluff and a buff" on the car. He's never used a buffer before so I gave him some pointers and turned him loose on the car as we didn't care if we had an occasional burn here or there. Fortunately he was careful enough that I didn't see a single burn anywhere. He still needs a bit more practice to get proficient and we'll do that on another car another day.
Here's a few pics of the finishing touches we put on the car tonight. All that's left are the harness and an interior sano coming tomorrow!
Can't wait for Gingerman on Friday!
Pics may be a little bittersweet for Mark and Brian to view!?!
I hope Bruce can take care of this Corvette for us. It was kicking our butt at the Mitty. Watch his tach and speedometer. The rain starts about half way into the race.
The car is done and I got an opportunity to drive it tonight in the industrial park. I didn't kill the motor on the initial launch (which amazed me) but I did kill it when I hit the brake and gas at the same time exiting the parking lot! I sort of panicked. The clutch wasn't as bad as Marv said it was going to be but I wasn't having to spin a huge assed dyno drum like he did. Toner said it wasn't going to be too bad, I'd get used to it and I agree.
Yeah it's a beast all right! It will No Doubt take me all day Friday to get used to driving it.
The brakes are pretty stiff.
How could I have forgotten the most important vinyl graphic of the bunch!
Bruce,
The car looks great. I look forward to seeing it run at Road America.
