Speeding behind a cop help

This is a question that a friend was asking me and I was going to see if anyone could lend and opinion or a suggestion that can help in his case, he lives in North Carolina.

I was wondering if you'd be able to help me out with a problem I have going on, this weekend I saw a cop in front of me so I did the same speed as him because I didn't know he was responding to a call since he didn't have his lights on. He was doing 85 in a 55 and he radioed one of his friends going the other way to turn around and pull me over and now I have to go to court about it next month. Do you know of anything I could do to help it out?

Plead guilty and ask for the court's lenience.

...and don't do criminal speeding around cops, no matter what side of your car they're at. (20 MPH over the speed limit in AZ.)

North Carolina allows one prayer for judgment every three years. This may be a good time for your friend to use his.

Never, ever, speed near a marked patrol car.

yeah all i can say is good luck because if your that unintelligent to speed behind a officer just because he is speeding then expect no remorse from the court.

Guilty with an explanation is guilty.

Like any other speeding ticket, get a lawyer and hope for a favorable plea bargain.

I was merely mentioning that 20 MPH over the speed limit is the threshold for criminal speeding. At least in AZ.

Get a really good traffic attorney. Why did you think it was a good idea to exceed the posted speed limit by 30 mph with a cop right in front of you?

Regardless of whether you think they are going to call you have no defense for exceeding the speed limit

i did this before, I was following a police going 90mph on the free way, i stayed in his blind spot on the right, once he looked over he slammed on his breaks, i was on the off ramp... Oh man it was priceless watching the head of that cop float higher and higher away and i had a huge grin on my face

I've done around 85mph on the highway following a cop. It was like 12pm on a Sunday. Did this for like 30 miles.
