So I already heard all the arguments from my parents but at around 11:00 pm Friday night I was heading down route 1 in New Castle, Delaware . I was pulled over by a State Trooper(who was very nice ) but he had told me that I had been going 101 in a 55. I did a DUI check and passed and told me I have to show up to court for my ...... decision..... if thats what you would like to call it. What do you think my chances are of getting, I know there just plan bad. But I want to hear some feedback from some "ex" speeders on what they got.
Make sure on court day you atleast dress decent, dont go in looking like crap. If you dress nice the judge will know your serious.
And yes traffic court sucks Just get a good lawyer like everyone else has said. If you were nice to the cop you may get a break on your ticket. Good luck!

You must be kidding??? I'n no cop, but had/have had access to LEO's all my life. Theres so much, where do you start is a better question...get stopped speeding could lead to many, many tickets...just depends on your attitude, the LEO's attitude as well as his ticket count for the month...try some of these on...
1. SPEEDING
2. EXHIBITION OF SPEED
3. RECKLESS ENDANGERMENT
4. IMPROPER ________(FILL IN A BUNCH OF BLANKS!)
5. FAILURE TO ________(SEE ABOVE)
6. FAILTURE TO USE DIRECTIONAL SIGNAL
7. IMPROPER LANE CHANGE
and on and on and on, ALL FROM ONE STOP...you get the idea, yes??? Got soemthing wrong with your car??? Bulb out, cracked windsheild, stuff hanging of rearview mirror, tint??? MORE TICKET POSSIBILITIES!!! Got passengers, kids in the car...maybe an endangering charge.
Cops can wallpaper you with tickets given reason, sometime very little reason, but they can write all they want. You still have to answer the ticket and prove you're innocence.
wow dude your so lucky! I on the other hand got busted once also. But the person who pulled me over was in an unmarked HEMI Jeep and i was in my Lighting, was just cruising at about 100-105 and he pulled me over ripped me out of my truck and threw cuffs on me and threw me in the back of the jeep and off to central booking i went. I got charged with reckless endangerment and 110+/55. I'm still going though court for it. Only if we had time machines, plus i got my L impounded. And at the time i only had her for about 2 weeks. Luckily though i got it back 2 days after the whole thing. Deff get a GOOD! lawyer i cannot stress that enough do your research, take a defensive driving class before they don't allow you to also.

Oops. I did forget to add that it was done by two different officers on the same night (I got stopped 2x within roughly 2 hours of each other). On the second stop I was halfway on the on ramp to the highway when he pulled me over. After checking his computer and seeing I was stopped earlier and received three tickets and that he was going to give me three tickets as well he said that I was pretty much under arrest.
But since he did not want to leave my car on the onramp plus I think it was for his safety since there were a lot of cars coming he just decided to have me follow him back to the station to post bail etc.
1st three
1. Speeding 45 in a 35
2. Unlawful lane change
3. Following too close
2nd three
1. Illegal squealing of tires
2. Speeding 60 in a 50
3. Rapid acceleration from a red light.
Me =
Granted this happened back in 2004. I've learned my lesson.
I got a bs ticket one time.. went to court to fight it, the judge heard my side of the story which was laid out very well and much more convincing than the officers account which was " I saw him run a stop sign", My story was about how the corner was completely blocked with trees and bushes and it was clearly impossible for him to see if i stopped or not. Needless to say I got raped. Apparently "he did it" is enough to prove someone guilty beyond a reasonable doubt..
I have little faith in this part of the system, it is basically a way to exercise a ridiculous tax on people. A neighboring town was reported in the local newspaper to get 60% of revenue from speeding ticket
I've been ticketed three times twice I was completely in the wrong but this one really set me off.
good luck getting it worked out man, no good advice other than plead guilty, at least they reduce it.

The standard for a civil infraction is not proof beyond a reasonable doubt. That is the criminal standard. A simple traffic violation is civil in nature and therefore the standard is preponderance, which is 50.1% to 49.9%.

LOL! sounds like you were just cruisin' 'n got ****ed by the law twice haha better you than me
I know how you feel man. I was driving my jeep and ran a stop sign 100% by accident and hit another car and got a ticket for failure to stop or yield...I could take that one...
Flash forward a couple weeks and I got an 85 in a 65 on the NJ parkway. After this I got kind of freaked out and scared, IE "i'll never drive again, can't pay for my own insurance (18 y.o., parents pay).
Basically, get a good lawyer haha I took the hit of 2 points and like $150 for the stop sign...
The bad part is the lawyer was $350, and the ticket was another $300-400 because they reduced it to 'careless operation' or some other 'lets make a bundle and let em keep driving' ticket.
