Just got 4.30 gear and got ticket

I had to go to another town to pick up my cobra
from getting 4.30 gears and it wasn't calibrated. I flashed my lights at a cop thinking he would slow down so I can get directions and he just speeds up. I slow down and I'm doing 65 (speed limit is 70) and about a mile ahead I see him pull onto the side of the highway and as soon as I passed him he said he got me doing 84 in a 70 even though my valentie one was on I never went off then he tryed saying I was going slow and he could right me a ticket for going slow. He came up to the window and asked why I flashed the lights at him? He asked was I trying to race him and realized he was a Leo and slowed down and I said "no officer, I just got my car today from getting gears changed and I flashed my lights a you thinking you nights slow down so I can ask you directions to my town" and he got my license an insurance went back to his car and goes you have a bad driving record and I know people like you so sign this part (where you usually sign your other tickets)

So my question is can I get this ticket dropped since I had 4.30 gears?? Btw the car feels alot differen and for some reason the abs light is on and the traction control doesn't work??

I don't know about in Mustangs but in my car there are sensors that plug in basically on the inside of the wheel for ABS. When they're not plugged in, the ABS and low traction lights stayed on until I plug them back in. Noticed it after swapping the 12-bolt in.

Good luck on the ticket.

As said above your ABS sensors are probably not plugged in, look underneath the car, on the backside of the rotars/should be electrical connectors back there that are plugged in. Make sure that they are plugged in tightly.

As far as the ticket goes, I am in the Army, not an Leo lol.

Just the excuse of having new gears won't get the ticket thrown out, but if you get it calibrated, and bring in the receipt of work done before the ticket, then the receipt of the calibration the judge could throw it out or reduce it. An example would be in the shop doing the calibration wrote on the receipt that your MPH were off 7, then they might reduce your ticket those 7.

It doesnt always work, but if the court sees you were really trying to do the right thing they are usually more leniant than you just going in with an excuse and nothing documented.

Unless your old gears were shorter than the 4.30s then the gear excuse won't fly. Since it takes more shaft rpm to turn the rear wheels at the same speed with 4.30s than say 3.55s, the speedometer will indicate that you are moving faster than you are.

As far as the ABS and T/C make sure the wheel speed sensors are plugged in.

Having a bad driving record reduces your credibility drastically, ie. Boy who Cried Wolf. The one time you might not have been screwing around is the one time nobody will believe your story.

I agree. Unless your other gear was a 4.56 or 4.88, the uncalibrated speedometer with your 4.30s is going to show you going faster than your really were going... not the other way around.

Ticket is already written, sounds like you don't have any "special" means of getting out of it, with that story.

It's called guilty by mechanical defect. They will generally reduce the points violation but it's still your fault for not having your equipment properly calibrated.
