Help with sound..

Ok no i dont have a cobra but do have the 03 IRS. Thats why posting here.

So the sound

U know the sound of a warped rotor. Pad hit no hit rubbing sound. Not squeak as in bad pads. Takes about a mile of driving or after hitting of breaks. Unsure what first as have to apply breaks in neighbor hood.

Thursday changed rotor. No fix.
Friday nite had back tires of ground and tried to creat noise and no luck.
Sat changed caliper.No fix.

What next. faster u go more rapid noise and slower is less rapid.. Goes with the speed u travel.

A video.. i killed the car

ive had found that the rear calipers dont always go in all the way with just screwing them...which makes it hard to install...like a tight fit that needs to be banged on...with more than just hand..

i had made my own tool which allows me to also push on piston to get all the way back..

i found this out after the first set of pads...i had an issue that sounds like yours,,i couldnt spin wheel by hand,,than when driving it dragged...

the only other thing that comes to mind which you most likely seen the pad has two posts that sit inside of piston..

than dont forget a bad brake hose/twisted, will cause issues

U know i didnt pay no mind to the two post.. My pads are near new 75% hawk pads and i need to look and see. I didnt think the post were supposed to match up and that the piston only has them there to turn in after pad install.

that noise is very loud...if you jacked car up and turn driveshaft by hand and dont feel or here anything strange...i would recheck front wheels just to make sure,,,

the rear wheel bearings is my next thought...these will change from being loaded with weight of car on it,,than another with being jacked up....being you already moved cam you might as well pull axle from hub and get a good feel of wheel bearing turning...this is free to check,,,well you might need to buy a scoket if you dont have

adding..checking your drive shaft is also free,,pull shaft and check ujoints and check tail stock bushing also..they are known to just go also ....

call your self lucky....do rear wheel bearings both sides,,,,

it will need to be pressed on and off...

any parts store should carry a bca quality bearing...dont buy a cheap china bearing....

i went to harbor frieght and brought the cheapest standing press they had,,when all was said and done it might have costed 50 bucks more than going to machine shop to have bearings changed,,and i own the press now..ive used it more than i thought after having it..

I had the same noise as the op, and my problem was the two posts of the pads were not aligned with the pistons, after turning the. pistons two the right position, my problem was solved, check that op

This may be a dumb question but in the pic you are missing the nut to the upper pivot bolt. I assume you removed it before taking the pic?

When I bought my car I had to rebuild the rear immediately, when I pulled the d/s hub, same thing my bearings were shot. My hub was also badly damaged from the bearing. Had to get it all new. It's sucks I know, and they are not cheap. GL!
