What type of Nitrous System is best for our cars... wer or dry

I am toying with the idea of putting nitrous on my mostly stock cobra. I was wondering which type of system (wet or dry) would be best for our cars (i'm not too sure what the differences are either). I would be considering either a 100hp or 125hp shot..... what do you guys think?

Either will be fine with that level of a shot. If you wanted to run more then a wet shot would be the way to go. You can run a 150 shot on the stock engine with a wet shot. I would upgrade the fuel pump just to be safe if you have the factory original 1993 special . Also, don't forget to retard the timing (I think 2* every 50 shot??? maybe someone can chime in to confirm this??)

Personally I think that if you want to just run that 100-125 shot then a dry shot is easier to route, and would be fine with an upgraded fuel pump and the timing retarded appropriately.

A Wet shot would allow more room for future growth (a heads/cam/intake engine + 150 shot = ), so keep that in mind if you wanted more room to grow into.

What would be the best (and safest) type of activation for the nitrous.... TPS switch (found on the ZEX systems, which activates at WOT) or the manual activation switch?

I am not sure as to which one is the 'safest,' but IMO If you can't go full throttle without losing traction what is the point of wasting nitrous before you can? So an activation switch might 'work,' but I'd imagine your bottles would run out quicker.

Do a little research into what combos 'work,' and how they are setup. This topic has been covered ad infinitum. Use this site, other message forums, google, and the Mustang mags' websites (MM&FF, 5.0, etc). If you don't enjoy doing research then just take the car to a local shop and write a check.

IMO the wet kit is the way to go. I would suggest upgrading your fuel pump and personally I wouldn't run it without a window switch. I ran an NX kit on my last car with great results. I also would not run a car without a wot switch.

i am a nitrous dealer and all of my cars are built for nitrous the best and most effictive way to run nitrous is with a wot switch and and digi set timer of a progessive controller to where you can delay the nitrous coming off the line a window switch is safe but i prefer digiset timer and a progressive controller tied into the wot switch also i suggest a wet kit with 100 to 125 shot you will be running a safe setup as long as you are not spraying the car at every stop light and everytime you have the chance use it when you need it and as far as the pump its never a bad idea to upgrade when using nitrous but you may be ok with the stock pump

I ran a ZEX wet system on my '93 Cobra. I was surprised at how much time I spent installing the system to do it "right". I only used the WOT and window switch for safeties. I monitored bottle pressure and A/F using gauges. I ran a 125 shot with no problems and ran a 12.4@117 with nitrous/DR's and exhaust.

IMO...get a Vortech!

^^^ Vortech SC kits can be found at Summit for $1800, and some smaller retailers have been known to drop them down to $1500. There are people who run those kits as they come on stock engines and have no problems, but you can always upgrade for better performance (and upgrades are needed to fuel system and ignition if other engine mods are performed...). It's mostly the same as an S-trim, but the impeller is a little different so it has a higher RPM rating, and needs to be spun ever so slightly more to make the same boost (but has the same max boost as an S, and power is essentially the same ...). There are people running into the 9's with that blower, and it is a solid 10 second performer on head/cam/intake combos with traction. Do some research into those kits because after it is all said and done a properly setup nitrous kit can be knocking on the same price bracket's window.

There are pro/cons to both. Nitrous makes a different kind of powerband, and is awesome, but can start to get pricey when setup with all the goodies. Research research research.

Personally I love both, and it just comes down to what you want. I get a hardon for 408's with high compression and nitrous running on race gas, but a supercharger setup is sick also. Turbos are neat, but they have so much stuff you have to worry about, and the headers seem to be prone to developing cracks after a couple of years.

Like I said, there are pros/cons to it all, so just research research research!

No matter what you do, as long as you do it 'safely' you will have a faster car that is still reliable.... ish

i ran a dry 125 shot from NOS. it was fun for a few weeks. managed a 12.62 with it on slicks and then got tired of filling the bottles. went to a turbo after that and have been running them ever since. had a 306 t trim for a while and that was fun too. but i, like many am not a nitrous guy
