Bought cobra, shifter question

Hello all,

Recently purchased my first cobra, black with opal leather, power driver's seat, sunroof, rear defroster. 4400 miles. This will be my garage queen and occasional sunday driver. Bought it in IL and had it shipped to NM. It's completely stock/original except for a steeda shifter. I'm going to be looking for an original shifter. Is the stock 1993 cobra shifter the same as the other 1993 (non-cobra) T5 shifters? Is it the same as all 1987-1993 T5 shifters?

Sweet Cobra. I picked up my 93 this past February with 2,300 miles on it from SC. I'm pretty sure the shifter is the same as a GT/LX 5.0.

They made different versions of the shifter bases for the T5 transmission through the years. Some years have a black base while others have a cadium(gold) plated base. The 93 Model should have the gold base IIRC. I will check out my car to make 100% sure. I know it is not specific to 93 Cobra as it was used in GT/LX 5.0s also.

The shifter handle & knob are the same on all T5 foxes.

I'm pretty sure Daryl's got it right on the shifter. I believe I've got a few stashed away somewhere and you more than welcome to one.....just pay for the shipping. If your interested, I'll see if I can find one.

Why would you want a stock shifter? I love my pro 5.0 shifter, and will never go back to a stock shifter again.

I looked in the garage and found my factory shifter. The base on mine is black. It's likely all 93 Cobra's had the black base, but I surely wouldn't bet my paycheck on that.

Just checked the pics from when I installed a MGW on my 93 and yup, the base is black.

How do you like that MGW? I had one on my '04. I'd like to get one for my '93 the stock shifter is HORRIBLE...

I think it feels great. I had, and still have a steeda tri-ax on my 89, but that car is far from stock, so its hard to say. I like them both, but just thought I would try something new when I picked up my 93.

The stock shifter base in one of my 93 Cobras is black... I did not check my other low mileage cars though.
