Cam question

So Im going through my engine and can't figure out what cam will be safe to run. I am concerned about my valve clearence. Im running some KB forged pistons that alredy have valve relief cuts in them. I have a set of AFR 185's to put on as well. This is the cam I am considering Comp Cams Xtreme Energy XE270HR Stage II valve lift is .544. I am also running DSS 1.72 roller rockers. Does anyone know if I will have issues with valve clearence?

You are gonna want to find out what lift your springs are good to, I believe early AFR heads had 550 lift springs unless someone upgraded them. The newer AFRs have 600 lift springs. If you have a set of the older AFRs I dont think the 1.72s would work. Be better off getting some 1.6s

The guy I picked the heads up from was running the 1.72's and said he had no issues with them. He also upgraded the springs so they will handle the lift. My main concern is the PTVC.

advertised is .544 with 1.7s the 1.72s will make it closer. Just because it works on one motor doesnt mean it will on another. Clay it and be sure is your best bet.

I run a Lunati 51025 which is .535/.544 and 224/232 with LSA 112. I have a stock short block with TW heads on top. This works for me with stock pistons, but while the combo isn't exactly like yours I would think with the valve reliefs in your pistons you should be good to go . Like it was said before, it is never a bad idea to clay it, and that only takes a few minutes to do so do it!
