SVTP traveled to the 2012 Chicago AutoShow to take in the introduction of the 2013 SVT Shelby Mustang GT500 Convertible. The Ford display is very impressive this year, and the Mustang was front and center. This show had more Mustang models than any other auto show I have attended. The 2013 Mustang lineup is beyond impressive, but don't take my word for it, take a loot for yourself:
We start off with the introduction of the 2013 GT500 Vert.
Important looking people.
Former SVT Chief Engineer Hau Thai-Tang was the ringmaster of the event.
SVT is celebrating its 20th Anniversary.
And to commemorate 20 years of exelence they displayed a 1993 SVT Cobra R.
New Mustangs always draw a crowd.
I want this car.
I guess we can throw in a smattering of non-Ford cars.
I didn't see too many enthusiastic faces around this car for some reason.
Not a lot of room to squeeze a smaller pulley on here.
For 2013 SVT upgraded the intercooler fluid pump.
Looks like the Vert has some added chassis bracing.
Also, how good is that impact blue? did you notice anything in the grille to protect the radiator or is it really wide open?
The ZL1 had horrible looking wheels and that grey doesnt look good with those body lines let alone the chrome trim on the tail lights.
Im still leaning towards a grabber blue coupe for me

You guys are crazy, I think the ZL1 looks great. And grey is never a bad color on a sports car in my opinion.
I think these pictures finally swayed my opinion of the Deep Impact Blue. When Cobrajay first posted his pictures I thought I had changed my mind. Now I'm certain it'll be Grabber Blue for me. I first saw it on a '10 and shouldn't have ever thought about looking back.

DIB is a great looking color. A good wax job would really make it pop.
The grill is wide open.
Thanks for the compliments guys. This was my first time using my new camera. I haven't really gotten a chance to mess with the settings yet.
Bigtime props Sid for taking the shots that the mainstream media is clueless about..
+1!!
Too bad no one took a pic of SID taking this pic!!!
I'd like to see the look on the media/photographer's faces, hey who knows they may have followed.. (They usually do.)
LMAO
I love how they brought up all the older SVT vehicles that no one seems to care about much as time goes by. And its also nice to see SVT on some things again and not just Shelby plastered everywhere.
Edit- And the wheels on the blue GT500 vert look great!

Since they had the 93 there and the 20th anniversary GT500...my question is where is the 10th anniversary Cobra?
I also just noticed the snake is facing backwards on the 93 R and in the picture of the 93 Cobra.
