Idea 2010 gt500 KB 2.8?

Hey all,

I'm looking to do the KB 2.8 mammoth stage 3. My tuner tells me to not go with an x-pipe and a cat back with this setup.. Just an axleback

is this true and what axleback will make this car crack some windows on a drive by.. hehehee

Thanks

Lonny

Why did he tell you not to go with a X-pipe? That's what I would be using...

Will make the car run too lean. Doesn't want to crack a piston..

Yep, just run the stock catted x-pipe with a Bassani Race cat-back. The tune will be spot on this way! And the HP gains from the cats being gone is minimal.

Hey KB,

Yo say to keep the stock catted x-pipe, but then you say getting the Bassani Race Cat-back that the cats are gone?

Am I following you ?

I can't find the Bassani cat-back system online. Is there a link you can post to somewhere online to buy what you are talking about?

Thanks in advance..

Lonny

your tuner is probably referring to the kb tune..and also wrong btw

as long as its tuned properly you can run any exhaust setup.

OP, you've got to pick up a copy of the December issue of 5.0 Mustang, they do a full write up on a KB 2010 GT500 install.

Great article BTW, KB

Hey all,

Called Bassani and they told me the 2010 is a different setup. They have no axle-backs/cat backs for it. I don't want to go with Magnaflows.. but it looks like I;m not having much of a choice..

any body else with some idea for it?

Regards,
Lonny

Hey All,

ok Bassani called back and they called around some of their shops. A shop in Phoenix was able to put these on
Part# 4610SR5 Bassani Exhaust - Bassani.com

It's for 2010 GT , but it fits the 2010 GT500

There's a video clip on the site og a GT. sounds nice.

I ordered it and got all my parts for the KB build. Will be working on it next wek and will let you all know..

Hey Mike@KB,

Just put the kb2.8 stage 3 on and not to thrilled with the results. Even going with the 3.25 pulley to be on the conservative side, it's not even close to the numbers you have on the site. It was dyno'd on a dynojet which gives no load and produces higher numbers then a load bearing dyno.

your numbers are 658rwhp mine is 623rwhp and it running pretty lean too 12.8's with your tune.

I put the axle back you suggested on as well. Everything else is stock except for your kit. I changed the stock heat exchanger. Basically that's the only mod from your numbers.

I'm going to drive it around for a couple of weeks, maybe it needs to break in a little..

Any thoughts?

Lonny

Stock was 472.39RWHP 439.77RWTQ

KB run was 617.25RWHP 541RWTQ

both were run up to 6200 rpm

I'll see if I can post up the sheets tomorrow..

the KB was with a 3.25 pulley. I'm thinking of going to the 3.0 pulley. Hopefully KB can work this out somehow. I have no idea how..

Thanks,
Lonny

i have the same setup. made 65x rwhp on a mustang dyno.

this was also w. 3.25" pulley.

ran it up to 6500rpm to get that number.

also it just touched 18psi. boost climbs fast at higher rpms

Lower on HP, what are you talking about? Why would Ford have changed any of the internals on the engine? Is the exact same engine as the 07-09, they just slapped on a CAI and probably a different tune to get it up to the advertised 540hp.

Lower on HP with a KB installed, is that what you are talking about? Doesn't even make sense. Confused but good information to know before I upgrade my blower.

Lon, That might be the belt. If you have been beating it up a little bit then the belt my have some slip spots.

The 2010's are different. The programing for sure (knock sensors and a few other safety things) and obviously some other parts. As I find out I will post it.

I heard it at the shop, never questioned it. It's not like a belt slip squeel, it's like all the time. chirp chirp chirp chirp.. It's the belt KB supplied.. Doesn't feel like it's slipping. Haven't been beating it up. That video was the day after I drove it home in the rian ever so gently and then it was pulled out of the garage.

Maybe this is the problem??

I only went WOT after,,, a couple of times from mid 2nd to 3rd. Not yet in 1st.. Too chicken.. heh..

BTW, thanks for getting back.

Regards,
Lonny

No it's not the belt as far the Horsepower being down. That is just the churp, The belt gets hot spots from the compressor and crank pulley. Then everytime those spots go over the supercharger pulley they churp.
