8616, i cant believe your having so much issuses, what keeps failing on the trans? I mean, you cant be blowing it out, is it jsut damaged synchros?
my tranny is fine...i'm just ditching my solid for a IRS...I think i'll be much happier with the car then...it kinda scares me the way it moves mid corner...its not right...a car should be stable and planted though the corner...
your tranny is fine? You just said your on your 3rd one.
What kinda turns? I have race springs and bilstein(spel) shocks and ive pushed my car pretty hard before on some turns and it did better than i thought.
no...unless neil wants to...i had a guy down in KC but that fell through...now i'm back to looking...
I'm taking about how the assend will kinda jump to the outside before it sets and then doesn't really take mid corner adjustments too well. The solid rears geometry sucks and there really isn't any cheap way to fix it...I could go with a panhard bar/tq arm or a watts link but thats alot of unsprung weight. I like how the IRS drives sooooooo much more.
Is the owner of a black Cobra (96 bodystyle) with blackouts on the tails & headlights on here? Just letting you know that was me you were running against on Sunday. Good runs and nice looking car.
well my IRS swap in KC is back on...turns out the guys selling the car and the potential buyer wants a solid...so...any one up for a road trip...? I've gotta drop the wife off at worlds of fun as a condition for going but hey it gets me out of going there...

That guy in on ness, he just got the car a while back i think.

holy shit...night and day doesn't begin to describe the difference between solid and IRS. I got on the road around 8 yesterday spent all day working on it. We finished up about 1130 or so. I wanted a beer so bad around 8pm that i could actually taste it. I got into town around 3am. The road manors are infinatly better...the only regret i have is that i didn't do this earlier...oh...and i miss my magnapcks...flows sound ok, they do create a weird boominess in the interior, very bass and resonant...not at all what i was expecting...I think i'll be switching back magnaflow...
The IRS has EIbach springs, aluminum bushings(pumkin to IRS subframe) and the billet flow brace...its alittle thumpy on shifts but thats to be expected with aluminum bushings.
Amusingly i can't get into my driveway now...i figured the IRS would fix some of the issues i have getting into my driveway but now it comletely picks up 1 or 2 wheels...i'm going to have to start coming in from the uphill end of my street.
i saw you called but i was in bed. i had to work in the morning
Whats up all? Sorry havent been on much nor round, been busy but now that fall is here things are slowing down. Oh Machme when you wanna race just let me know?

Hey blue mach, that is awesome, ive never been in a irs car before, id liek to see how it feels. WIth the mods on it, you should not have wheel hop, bushings and brace usally take care of it.
Paul, is that the same Cobra that Bill up above had for liek 2 weeks? 29K is way to much, but then again it is dealer and they have to make money.
Sure i want to race, i dont know if it will be any fun since i can already spin in 2nd gear if i smash it and its not even that cold yet.
give me a call 9686704 i'll take you for a ride(fair warning though...once you ride in an IRS car you woun't want to go back...). I haven't seen any hop yet(haven't really babied it either...)...I do want to get the rest of the bushings(IRS subframe and control ams) and braces(rear mount brace and shock tower)...
seriously though...lets do a BBQ or somthing before it gets cold...

the irs rides nice. the only time i had some wheel hop is at the track when i hammered hard out of the box..
