it takes place at GLD(Great Lakes Dragway). They do it all the time just go to their website and check the schedule to see when the next date available is.

Thanks Mark, I figured that is what it was, but just wanted to make sure as the boy's go to Ill. also. I wonder if they still have the lights out events , where you don't see the times until you get a slip, and they allow anything goes and bets on races.........

Your thoughts

Alright here's my dilema, I put a bid in last night on a Kb2.2l ( 9000 miles) with 60 lbs inj, sct2400 maf, ported accufab tb, and an intercooler tank like LFP or TS. I was out bid today and the kid bailed at end of auction and I have received a second chance offer at my $2700 bid plus shipping. I won a BAP last night and will get a wiring upgrade also, this has all the needed items to go fast and possibly reach 600 hp. Plus I have heared the 2.2l have that wicked scream to them. do I accept or pass and get this 2.8H for $3000, still need to buy 60lbs, and what ever else I need? I value all info you guy's have and will give so be gentle on the lashing with the tongue

heres the item #

normally im with you on working during all the cool shiattt. But Yes RSD= Real Street Drags it was at Great Lakes, and we ended up getting there at 7pm which i thought was going to be too late. And it worked out in our favor because there was a couple oil downs just before us so when we got there they were just getting the cars back going again.

Lots of awesome races, couple real Heavy Hitta's testn

orange peel kenne bell hasen't made a 2.2l in like 4+ years... old technology!!! newer blowers are much more efficient.

Evil I see, the 2.2l is an older design, 2.4,2.6,2.8 are the more current ones, I just wonder if I will have a drivability issue with the 2.8H as I would only be using stock pumps boosted, and mafia, exhaust. I forgot to mention when you asked about mods I also have the MGW st shifter, and eibach lower springs kit in the garage not installed. wouldn't 2.2l make 600hp? when you say efficient, are you talking about heat buildup or ????? school me on your knowledge and remember I have only owned the CO a little over a month and was used to gn's and tuning turbo's these Ford's are a different animal to me.

this is a good thread to read.... Whats the Best Blower to buy to Reach the 600hp mark

this is a post godstang made earlier this week... i'll just post it..

Difference in blowers:

Whipple 2.3L - Great blower for more mild combos and street use. Good from around 15psi-mid 20psi. Can make 600rwhp on pump gas with supporting mods on stock bottom end but has seend over 700rwhp on race setup many times.

Whipple 3.4L - Great race blower but still great on the street. Its strong points are higher boost up to 30psi but guys still have had great results on street boost. Has seen over 700 rwhp and even over 800rwhp. Also has the fastest blower only record.

Whipple Crusher (and behemoth coming soon). This is the inlet added to the blower that rises amount of air that the blower can get. The biggest no no in Twin screw blowers is having restriction downstream of the blower. This helps prevent it.

Kenne Bell 2.6L - Very similar to the whipple 2.3L. Great blower for more mild combos and street use. Good from around 15psi-mid 20psi. Can make 600rwhp on pump gas with supporting mods on stock bottom end but has seend over 700rwhp on race setup many times. Also last I checked had the Land speed record for our cars.

Kenne Bell 2.8L - Great all around blower. It is recommended in the 18-26psi range. Has seen 800rwhp on stock heads, cams, bottom end on race gas and seen 700rwhp on applications for 93 octane. Has the fastest blower only, 6-speed, irs car.

Mammoth/Behemoth - just like the crusher inlet takes the stock inlet which flows ~1000cfms and ups it too over ~1800cfms. This allowing for more power from ~3300rpms all the way to redline.

Now as far as looks that is 100% opinion. I personally like the looks of the Kenne Bell. You will be happy with any of the blowers and the technology is so so so close that no matter what anyone says you will get around the same results with each. Just depends on the boost you want to run as to whether you want to go to the bigger blowers.

Now you mentioned the 2.4L. This is a good blower but you can only get them used. The technology is a bit older and temps are a bit higher. There has been many many fast 2.4L in the past and is a great blower but if I where you I would go with one of the newer blowers. Just my opinion.

any twin screw can get you go 600rwhp... some might need more boost and more supporting mods to get there.... any can give you the same exact driveablity of your current cobra!

Thank you

I see you have helped me immensly, Is the blower on the boards then a 2.8L he calls it a 2.8H? I thought you couldn't put a behemoth inlet on the L as the lenghth ofhousing was different or am I'm confused on what I thought I read about that, I see you just bought one.Not that my car is ready for the behemoth but it could be a future item down the road should I buy this 2.8.
are your tunes on pump gas or race gas, was 635 on race gas or pump and what pulley are your running for boost level i thought the guy told me it has a 19lbs pulley on it I'll have to go read the pm again to make sure , as i asked alot of questions. Is Kurgan an authorized Kb installer?

kurgan is the man... but i believe he is a whipple dealer so he might be bias twards whipple.

however i've read he has done tests and has repeatedly seen the 2.3l whipple has lower intake temps than the kenne bell superchargers.

i always run a bottle of torco accelerator with every ten gallons of 93 octane. i try to use 100% gasoline but that is nearly impossible to find now! the torco is a 32oz can which turns 10 gallons of 93 into about 98-100 octane! http://torcoracefuel.net/2-docs/acce...lend-chart.gif

i just hate risking running higher boost on pump gas.... all it takes is a bad batch of gas to make that expensive engine go BOOM!!! i have my car tuned for this aswell.

i have a 4# lower pulley and i cant even remember the upper... but you can call kenne bell and they will give you how much boost with whatever pulley combo you will want.

as far as the behemoth inlet goes... a company called modular power house(mph) makes the behemoth inlet for kenne bell superchargers. and a company called injected enginering makes the behemoth for whipple superchargers.

god stang was talking about 2.8h when he was talking about the 2.8... kenne bell makes a 2.8h supercharger which is like the other kenne bell superchargers, meaning the inlet goes to the passenger side of the car. kenne bell also makes a 2.8h mammoth supercharger.

this is a supercharger with the inlet that goes to the driver side, you need to remount some things in the engine compartment and also relocate the battery. kenne bell says its because they found more air in the fender of the driver side of the 03/04 cobras... this may or may not be true... but it is the same inlet and style of the 2.8h mammoth for the gt500. they probably just didnt want to have to make a new cast mold of the inlet.

a different inlet is needed for twin screw superchargers because the stock kenne bell inlet for example only flows 1000cfm's... the behemoth flows 1800cfm's which is a much better free flowing inlet. it is litteraly twice as big. guys see huge gains above 3000rpm's. the behemoth inlet fits onto the 2.2, 2.4, 2.6, and 2.8 kb.

personally id buy a 2.2 just for the scream alone. If you got the dough you cant really go wrong with either kb or whipple.

Welcome slapnuts nice to see another one on board. Orange peel my only thought on TS your car. Is if you buy new it may cost you a little more but you are getting a new SC with a warranty and If you are going to buy used you never know that was my worry. KB or Whipple their both nice pieces. I had IRS brace and diff bushings put on my car have not had wheel hop with it yet....a must do item. I also did the 26 spline upgrade and clutch this cost me quite a bit more then I planned but it's something else to think about when going TS

KB 2.8 sucks for low boost.. its not in its efficiency range at anything under 25psi and act somewhat like a centri blower because of that.. If my goal was 600rwhp, i would go with a whipple 2.3l, kb 2.2, kb 2.6, kb 2.8, whipple 3.4, and then a kb 2.4.. the 2.3 and 2.2 have instant boost and crazy torque since they come on so fast..

IE: 2.3 and 2.2 at 2500 rpm would make 18psi and 20psi at 6500
IE: 2.8 and 3.4 at 2500 rpm would make 14psi and 20psi at 6500

lose 4psi and you loose 60-80lbtq..

I tune these things every single day and thats what my data shows me.. Ive probably tuned over 200 600rwhp cobras..

my simple recipe for 600rwhp is whipple 2.3, 60lbs inj, mafia, bap, cai, exhaust, and a good tune..

Hey Bk got a question for ya After I had this amazing dude tune my car I get home and my local gas station that has always carried 93 premium suddenly switches to 91 octane Is the tune on my car too aggresive to run that or do I need to mix a few gallons of 110 sunoco race fuel with it. Also what's with 10 percent ethanol in premium good or not good?

find a gas station that sells 93. stick with Shell ,BP ,Exon The brand name stuff. they put way more time and money into thier additives and monitor thier octane levels much better than the generic gas staions(like 7\11's and maratons)
I personally only put shell or bp in my car and those guys both carrier 93 octane.

if you can find conventional gas get it.
they just use ethanol to bump up the octane and oxygen level in the gas.
to sum it up. a non 10% blend prem gas is straight 93 octane. I consider that "the good stuff" but its hard to find in our area

a 10% blend is basicly a 90 octane fuel with 10 % ethanol added to it while the truck is getting loaded to bump it up to a 93 octane finished product.

bottom line is they are the same as far as octane goes but the RFG or refomulated 10% ethanol blend gas will burn faster because of the added ethanol.
