10k? What are you trying to build?
Give John @ MP a call for a SB, send me the heads, and we can get you some cams......

maybe im on the wrong track and you dont need this much beef?
You mean a "set"?
You could get a very nice .020+ short block, that will take 8000RPMs NA (with the right heads/intake) for ~3350.00 bones or less.
Head work, springs, etc. ~1500, custom cams ~1250, Ported Short Runner ~900, and you got a 400+RWHP motor, that will run 10s with the right suspension/driver/tires.
That is a complete long block, with ported heads, custom cams, and custom intake for ~7000Ks that will take 8000RPMs and get you into the 10s with ease.
ok you can point and laugh now. I thought that was each. It really isn't clear lol and I've yet to break down motors that far, usually just topical and bolt on's. Howeverr am very eager to get deeper so thanks for the info lacking the usual sarcasm threwn about haha. Now aren't the stock blocks teksid, I've heard good untill 600 hp or so?
I owned a 03 mach and a 99 cobra. While I know the 99 had its flaws compared to the 01 but basically same car. I would have to say the mach. Love the shaker, retro style. Plus the mach is a blast to drive, little lighter SRA, 3.55 gears, a little more power etc. The 01's are really nice and look classy, but the 99-01 motors are know for problems and the early IRS was crap. And in my book the seats are a toss up, the 01's are nice, but the mach seats are very comfortable. Both great cars, but my edge goes to the mach
Angus if you did everything to the Cobra that you have done to the Mach then I really don't see how the Mach could be any faster. Just curious how far you took the Cobra.

after all these years.....Angus has a real good perspective on the powertrain of both cars but comparing his mach to his previous newedge is not exactly apples to oranges in my opinion. I respect what he has done to that Mach1.... but wasn't the cobra that Angus owned a heavy IRS vert? not exactly a great platform for drag racing. If I recall... he was struggling to get down to the high 12's in the vert cobra with bolt-ons.

Jamie,
Angus Mach' has some serious...serious weight reduction done to it which the Cobra did not, plus his Cobra was a vert (I belive). Not sure if he ever swapped the IRS to a solid either.
Angus has spent more time dialing up his suspension that we all put together ever had. His Mach will plain just launch and can work the suspension. I have been able to cut some low 60fts but mine are off HP, his are based on the right set up.
His 120MPH is also a reflection of his weigth reduction efforts. I belive (I could be wrong) that he is UNDER 3000LBS race weight WITH driver.
If you plan on modifying the car at all... don't even worry about which one is faster stock it will definitly even out, worry about what you want in your car. Just write two columns for Cobra and Mach and write down what you like and don't like about both. For example mine was:
01 Cobra:
+ Nicer seats, guage cluster, steering wheel.
+ It's a Cobra (bragging rights)
- Uglier hood (but I put a termi hood on so better anyways)
+ Doesn't look ridiculous when you want to throw on termi body parts
Mach:
+ Cooler Stock Aesthetics (but not very exterior modifiable)
+ Newer
+ But still cool retro styling
- Ugly Gauge cluster/seats
- Not as respected overall (to less mustang-educated folks)
- Not a Cobra
- Not a Cobra
