I leave for Navy OCS on July Forth, and ill be driving up to Newport in one of my cars. My fiance want my 2006 Cobalt SS SC to drive when im gone since her car died.
I have a 1984 cavalier that is reg and inspected but it looks shamefull I dont want to drive it up there.
That leaves my with the '99. It will be sitting in a parking lot for 3-4 months and every other week I can start it up. How messed up will the paint get from sun, seagull sh!t, and possible salt in the air? And how messed up will anything else get (underneath, suspension, ect?)
What would you guys take? Would I catch a ton of flak for bringing the beater?
Thanks

I say take the beater. Anything can happen to it just sitting there. I am in Philly so I can always go start your car for you.
The salt just sitting on it will begin to rust out things. It won't be imediate but it will start to pit the metal exposing it to future rust. I let my car sit all winter w/o any issues, so letting it sit at home will be fine.
ok think thats decided I willl post a pic of the beater later. I took it to maaco to see if he can make it one color and he laughed at me. Told me to take it to the grand canyon and drop it off. lol

Who cares what other people think of what you drive . My whole life I drove beaters. I just made fun of them whit everyone else .
Nobody will even look at your car or care during OCS. Definitly take the beater. Also you might want to put your Mustang on blocks whereever you store it. It only takes a few months of sitting to cause your tires to start to get egg-shaped.
If I had a beater I would drive it everywhere that it would have to sit as to not risk some f*ck tard messing up my paint with his door or backing into it etc...or in your case bird poo and salt just as bad if not worse...
