I was talking to one of my buddies tonight and I was telling him about what I have done to my car and such. He was like why don't you just call it a Cobra, my reply was I don't think I should. I am still missing key ingredients of being a Cobra, like brakes, interior stuff, my rear bumper says Mustang like the 99's, my rear taillights are tinted, so you can't see the ambers, and I have a Roush S3 kit on it. I always just call my car a V6, with some modifications. Should I call it a Cobra if someone asks, and save myself the trouble of explaining everything?

Its your car, call it whatever you want. lol If someone asks....all you have to do is tell them its a v-6 mustang swapped with cobra drivetrain...
+1. Just keep in mind ... you will get alot of if it wasn't original OEM. In my personal opinion.... with the exception of the Mach 1, the essence of a svt cobra is the 4v modular motor!

The essence was the 4v Mod motor, the IRS, and the brakes the rest is just eye candy.
I wouldn't call it a Cobra. I have a saleen kit on mine. I know it's not a Saleen. I don't call it a Saleen. It's just a Cobra with a body kit. Yours is just a V6 with a motor swap.

I'm glad Mach 1s have "Rs" stamped right into the VINs.

I normally just say, it is a V6. Then I get the look, so then I have to tell them it has a Cobra Drivetrain....and then they proceed to ask me who did the work yada yada. Been saying this for over a year now.

That is special. A Cobra sacrificed its life to live again as an organ donor.

That is how I roll. I had never thought about calling it a Cobra, because they only made a certain amount of them every year, a special car. The hand of God touched everyone of them, after 99 at least , and the headed out to proud owners.
just call it a mustang and be done with it. Best way to explain

Shit people dont hardly believe are Cobras are Cobras so good luck passing yours off as one.
Haha good point. Especially with the 99's that say "mustang" on the rear bumper.
One time, some schmuck with a fake 98 cobra tried to tell me my car was a fake because it said mustang on the back and his said cobra. wow.
A Lincoln Aviator has a 4.6 4V and an IRS, but we don't call that a cobra, do we? Hell, my car has a Lincoln aviator motor in it, but it's still a Cobra. I could put your V6 in my car and it'll still be a cobra. Except with a V6. Wouldn't that be a sight to see. hah.
You've got a nice car with some impressive mods, but who cares if it's a cobra or not. And that's the cool thing about mustangs is that they don't have to be cobras to be fast, impressive and fun. A V6 with a cobra powertrain conversion, in my opinion, is just as impressive (if not more) than a cobra because you did such a neat modification.
k2ahollywood is right. half the damn people out there dont even believe our real cobras are cobras b/c of the damn back bumper..... so call it what ud like. when some one calls u out pop the hood.

I would not try to pass your car off as a Cobra nor would I badge it as such (you don't even have the IRS which is a dead give away). Telling someone who knows what a Cobra "is" will instantly spot you are trying to pull the wool over their eyes. You will only embarrass yourself and that person would have no respect for you trying to pass it off as something it is not. Your car is closer to a GT with 4V heads.
In the end it matters little if your car started out in life as a V6. What it "is" is what matters regardless of what you call it. You have a nice quad cam V8 NE Mustang. I would actually tell people it's a V6 car with an engine swap. They will get curious and start asking questions and are likely to be more impressed once the find out there is a Cobra engine hiding under the hood. That is something to be proud of.
