So as you NE owners know the 99s came with the chrome headlights. I read about how owners have been taking VHT nightshades and making black chrome emblems. This got me thinking about seperate the lens from the housing and spraying the chrome with the VHT and shoot for a black chrome effect on them and tint the lens a little cause I dont like the chrome headlights on my black car. If all else fails a new set of smoked ones are 200 at the most. SO... what do you think about the black chrome headlights????
Eh, I don't know how well that would work since the back of it has to reflect the light a certain way. Also the only way i could get inside the lens was to smash it with a 5 pound hammer (old bad set not even worth restoring)
I say look for someone unloading a set of 01-04 OE smoked ones that are in good condition.
I realize they have to reflect light the tint on them would be light but enough to tell it would be a "black chrome". But some kits have a black background. All you have to do to seperate the lenses 01SVTSnake is to put them on a wet piece of cardboard and put them in the oven at 300* and then the silicon will soften and sperate. But this was just to guage interest and gather opinion of others so thanks for the reply 01!
The new smoked 01+ are $66/piece (or at least were when I bought mine) through Tousley Ford. I think tinting your current ones is going to kill the light output.

oh and most likely will go with HID eventually but not the riced out blue just a clean white. The car also is about to be parked cause in the little town of Tazewell, VA it gets cold/rainy/snowy real fast so it wont be on the road much either.
That's not going to work at all. I think you should spend the $132 rather than $20k for a new car when you experience the horrific crash that will be the result of your inability to see.

This is known as the "Whistler mod" for LS1 Camaro's. They bake the headlight in the oven to pop off the lense, paint the housing, then seal it back up. I've never seen it done to Mustangs, but I'm sure it can be done.

The price went up recently for OEM headlights, its over $100 now from Tousley- wish I would've known that this summer, I could use a fresh set as well.
is there a difference in the level of "smoke" of brands?
The only difference I've noticed is between stock and aftermarket. My buddy and I have aftermarket headlights from different places that are the same tint. But the stockers are definitly lighter then the aftermarket lenses.

Damn, thanks for the completely ignorant hate PureSound. I asked it as a question to get an opinion not to hear someone ramble on about how I am guaranteed to wreck/ kill people and have to pay a shit ton for insurance compensation.
PredatorBird thanks for the insight on the camaro mod if they can do it I guess I can try it as well. If all else fails like I said I can just buy some new ones.
