( IF ) a new Camaro comes out in 2007 will it help or hurt mustang?
The way I see it, I'm sure Stang sales will go down a little but it would start the horsepower wars all over again. Each Company would strive to have the faster car and we all win
what are your thoughts??

According to the few articles I've read, the first year is going to have a a 350-400 hp small block, i think it was a RS or Z-28 model and in 08 they will be available as an SS w/ a big block and somewhere in the 500 hp range. (Don't quote me on that I haven't read the article in quite some time) I like the styling for the most part as they are trying to incorporate the old first gen styling with the new much like the 05 gt. I wish they would get rid of those lines flaring off the fenders though. All in all, it will only fuel the war and escalate ford to up the power of the Cobra and GT, just think a big block camaro with heads and cams...should be something like the C5R race motor (which quite a few people around me have as GMMG is located about 20 miles from me). This will be great!

There will not be any horsepower wars, insurance companies see that shit going on and they jack rates way up for the cars. Ford hasn't been to war with HP since the late 60's. When Ford built a camaro killer chevy wasn't even making it anymore.
no chevy heard that ford was building something for the camaro and they stoped production because chevy got scared LOL

I welcome more American muscle. The faster Chevy makes their cars the more ways we find to beat them.Thats the game we all signed up for when we got our Cobras. It's all about the love of power and speed.I love my Cobra, but I also like a well made American sports car like a Z06.Great car.I would be happy to see a new Camaro. The car has great tradition in the history of muscle cars.Plus anything that will blow the ricers away I am all for it.
I think the new 07 camaro is amazing!! I love how it looks....i think, from the concept pics the 07 camaro looks much better then the 05 mustang
If it is truly a real pic or close version of the Maro(if it even comes out),I have to agree...Looks friggin sweet..And as someone before me posted...If this is the case,I also think we would all win...Nothing beats variety when it comes to American muscle....WOOT!!

I really like the new look. Not as catfishy. I would love to see a new HP war, I wasn't around for the first one! But as far as that goes, we're looking at new American Muscle and the HP numbers are just outrageous. Pretty soon, all you will do is exhaust and a pulley to your Cobra and it won't even be streetable. I like the lower stock HP numbers, so when you do get high HP and smoke other cars, it's because you put alot of time and effort into it and not because you wrote a check for $50,000 and drove it off the lot.
GM has already came out with a mod kit for them. Instructions say to attach this to the front of the Cheby, and hook to the closest Stang. Inproves 1/4 mile ET by at least 2 full seconds.

Dude, your T bird looks friggin sweet...I've always loved that body style...Any nice pics?
Looks ok for a GM product, but just remember why they stopped making Camaros, Firebirds, and Trans Ams in the first place.
You know they stopped and are tearing down that facility to build one twice that size in Canada where the new camaros will be made. They are planning on devoting quite a bit of resources so I don't think that they stopped making them just because sales were slow. If what they say is true and the big block comes out with 500 hp, just adding a nos kit to them will put them way out there. We'll just have to wait and see how Ford responds.
200gt...We are still waiting for CHEVY to respond...since the demise of the Fbody we have seen Mach1's, Terminators, a retro body style with more stock HP and the 07 SVT about to pound some pavement...Once Chevy first answers FORDs calls, then we will see what happens. I would love to see a new Fbody, but its iffy whether or not it will happen. What I wanna see are AFFORDABLE muscle cars, like they used to be. Made for every-day Joes to buy and work on in their free time. Soon, the Mustang Camaro war will be for the Elite... I hope not

I only say this becuase back in the 90's Camaro and Mustangs only saw around 270hp.... By 2002 Z-28 and Cobra had around 340hp... Now i heard the new 06 Cobra will have 450hp????? CHRIST thats a big jump. Same with the Vette in 2000 the Z06 had 400hp, now the base model has that much and the Z06 has 500..
It just looks to me that every year Horse Power goes up n up n up.. even with trucks, imports, SUV's
Think of it this way If you had an 04 Mustang GT with 320hp rating and the 20005 Mustang came out and had 290hp rating.. would you upgrade? of course not.
Forging the bottom end, putting in a Moser 9", and throwing on a power adder. Just basically fixing the only things wrong with the current f-body. Maybe Ford will give you guys 6 cams and 8 vavles or something to help ya keep up.
First and foremost GM will NEVER create another Fbody. The platform is dead and gone due to legallity, and the fact the platform needed a complete overhaul in order to meet safety standards.
Secondly, I think GM will come out with another Camaro fairly soon. They have to unless they want to get absolutely slaughtered in performance sales. It would work as the RS version having a V or I6, then the SS model having 385hp-400hp then the Z28 being the King of the Hill so to speak with close to 450hp both Gen IV based. The rumors are the LS2 will be used in the SS model, then an LS7 based ~6.3L will go into the Z28.

When it's all said and done, the degree to which Chevrolet is free to talk about an upcoming Camaro relies almost entirely on its relations with the Canadian government and the satisfaction of the Canadian Auto Workers union. We have no doubt there will be a "Camaro-like" vehicle in our future, so the issue really boils down to the use of the name and how litigious the lawyers feel about it. We hope they can overcome their objections and let the good times roll!
