Dyno video on SVT Contour 400whp410wtq

well I finally was able to put the car on dyno. I was only able to run to 6200 rpms the car just died on it face. The turbo is being maxed out at 15 psi the drop to 13 psi is noticable around 6K. So if I was tune the car out I would make 420whp with timing and some less fuel but for now the power is to much to handle in front wheels. The guy who did only mustangs was amazed that the v6 put down over 410wtq at 4500 rpms he was fighting the streering wheel on the dyno.......lol here a pic of dyno and a video hope you like it.

well I was shy of what I wanted the guy that told me the turbo has enough air to 450whp knew little about compressor maps. I am still happy with 400whp and I drove it hour and half straight on the dyno. So that is real power on pump gas in the heat If i wanted to squeeze some more power I am sure we could get it but I will just sit back and invest in another turbine wheels with a little more air. I did notice that for turbo cars you need a dyno that can load it down some so it can build boost. The guy dyno was setup for a rear wheel load only. Now I just need to get that power to the ground and I should see some nice 12's for a 3000lb car

T3/T4E 60 Trim .82 A/R and you'd be golden. Is the reason why the graph sucks from under 4000RPM the incorrect load from the dyno? You should should have a fatter curve in that area especially with the smaller turbo.

Overall congrats!

I had alot of heat about my earlier post when I estimated my power at 500hp but the guy at the dyno just tuned a gt500 but the car stock made 430whp and 420wtq so i was happy to see i was right with a true 500hp car. So I am satisfied with the performance I was able to get out of a smaller turbo.

Oh spooke we weren't able to hit full boost at lower rpms also because the timing needed to be pulled three degrees and needed to be a little richer. But I will tune that part on the street. We were more curious to what we will do up top. There is alot of power left in the motor on pump gas I am looking for a stage 5 wheel with 61mm or 67mm one will do 500whp other one will do 55o whp so I will tune this one to squeeze another 20whp then i will make some runs at the track then I will swap out turbos. But I imagine that 500whp will be pushing pump gas limits we will see. thanks for the comments

Well you were 15HP shy of 500HP, but hey who's counting. Alot of that can be contributed to that small turbo but you'll get there one way or another.

Were you out of compressor or was the turbine too small, looks to me that it's a combination of both. The turbine housing is too small as it gets really peaky early on then died, and then you run out of compressor at 6200RPM.

Your really finding the limits on pump fuel, although the lower CR helps. The nice thing is you still have a great area under the curve from 4500RPM to redline on a shortened run. The larger turbo will really flatten that out and make it even more powerful in the topend all the way to 7000RPM or higher if you choose to go.

Edit: vid finally works, car sounds amazing, especially after the secondaries open. The tach flies in 4th. Hows it feel on the street?
