I dont understand why people keep going with the T88's, they are a very outdated turbo, most of them are journal bearings too, a nice GT42R would do the trick much better ;)

Durability I'm assuming. I proposed the same question before, but people have suggested that Mitsu is a very durable turbo. Someone posted a dyno chart of two similarly sized turbos, one of them being a Greddy T88H and it was only slower by a few hundred rpms(think it was on Supraforums).

I agree with you there, the mitsubishi turbos are extremely strong and last a LONG time, I know guys running their TD06's for many years at 20+lbs of boost. So I guess if he is looking for a turbo to last him for a lifetime then he has the right turbo, spool isn't everything either, the GT42R (while being much more expensive) will put out more hp and have a much better torque curve compaired to the T88H.

Thats not true if you are talking about a T88H-38GK , it can make 1000+whp

probably not, i was just referring to that you said a GT42R would make more power, which i havent seen. And usually when a turbo makes more power it spools slower. Sean @ Titan Motorsports said that a T88H-38gk 38k can make upwards of 1100whp. They ran that turbo on the Titan auto supra for a pretty long time.
and here´s a quote from Mark Conte
Quote:
It may not spool quickly, but it (T88H-38GK) makes more horsepower than any 76mm I've ever seen on a street car. It's extremely efficent and still fun to drive.
