sooo, why is the z06's speedo broken?

He had it pegged out in 4th gear one time, another time he passed around a truck and he was going 140+mph and unless the truck he crossed was going 135mpph through the curve, then something is wrong there.

I was wondering the same thing. Seemed like he was just cruising around at 200mph.

It also looked like he hit close to 165mph in 4th gear, and even with bigger tires I don't think mine quite hits 160.

Yes, but the range of the analog speedo should be the same (being buried should be 320kmh, and at straight 3:00 should be around 160mph).

Those guys have sick ass cars and don’t care about racing them. Is that Russia, do they even have speed limits? Awesome races and camera work.

The GT570 kit replaces a lot of the hardpipes from the turbo back, as well as exhaust piping before the downpipe, (expensive to produce when using T304 stainless no matter who makes it). "intake/tune/catback" setups are NOT making 550whp+ like the GT570 kit, it is what it is. Also. the GT570 kit doesn't include a intake/catback for it's $6,000 price tag.

The Z06's speedo says KM/h on it. It might be an eastern Europe version where the top speed one can read is 200km/h (remember the 85mph thing here) Or GM could have been extra cheap and just put a MPH cluster in them

GT-R was considerably faster than I would have imagined. 570whp surely?

Either way, the ZR1 is a f*cking beast.

edit:
Carrera GT vs 997 Evotech vs Same ZR1 vs Same GT-R

Think the CGT missed a shift. Should be about even with the ZR1 I would think.

Thats not the way corvette gauge clusters work. When you hit the E/M button it moves the needle the numbers dont change

doesnt matter, something is wrong with the speedo. It was past buried at the top of 3rd or 4th gear, he had it 3/4ths buried when he was crossing a pickup truck through a curve..etc..etc

Sick races. Hard to believe a lightly modded GT-R keeps up w/ a ZR1 like that.

I dont understand what you dont get here. Its buried past 200 kph, which is ONLY 120mph. That mean at 120mph his speedo is completely buried.

Check 3:10 into the following video. He is in 3rd at what reads 120 on the speedo (kph) which is ~75mph, which seems right for the RPM he is at (~4500)

Then check at 3:30 when he is in the turn, speedo reads ~80kph which would be ~50mph.

YouTube - HD - ZR1 vs Stage 2 GT-R vs C6 Z06 : Video by DragTimes.info

so why is the speedo only marked for 200kph/120mph?

The car does that in 1/4 mile.

$6K is just a drop in the bucket for anyone who affords a GTR or a ZR1..

HKS is always overpriced, their mods are expensive for any car.

The speedo is a 200 mph speedo. When you switch it to kph mode how else is it going to work? You still have your digital speedo in the window regardless of how high the needle goes so it doesnt matter.

Think about it like this, you are going 120mph, you switch it to kph mode and the needle moves to 200mph. To make a speedo that did both it would need to go to 300+.

It looks to me as if it was a US spec Z06 (imported?) as it utilized a MPH gauge cluster, euro cars get the KPH cluster which looks like this: (well in the C6 cluster of course)

Ya I have, and its not 6k for some piping, plugs and actuators. 6k will get you a Supercharger kit, or a heads/cam package with change for intake, headers, exhaust and a tune.

Nothing is wrong with the speedo. It was switched to read KPH, so he is pegging the speedo at 120mph. Its fun to switch back and forth to make it seem like youre going really fast
