hate to say it but a cobra motor would have shit itself long before 199mph. that guys and idiot for going that fast...should have shifted to 6th at least. i dont know of any factory boosted motors that can take 200+ mph like the supra can. hate to give them credit but toyota built a hell of a motor.

if you watch the video, in the 5th gear pull it was at 20.00 AFR and he still stayed in it for a few seconds. That right there = MORON.

I love how everyone hates on anything thats an import. c'mon lets get serious and all admit thast the Supra's along with the Skyline's are very well built cars. Supras Stock longblock can handle 1000HP(not saying it'll hold it forever either).

This was right on Long Island in NY. I'm pretty sure he spun a bearing. He's making 1000hp though too him and a few others put together some films "Life After the 1/4 Mile"

im pretty sure that was after he let out of the gas. regardless that wouldn't have caused him to spin a bearing...it would have eaten up a piston.

Videos always make the car look like it's going slower than it is. Watch a video of a 9-second car and then go ride in one or stand near one that's getting into it. It probably was going that fast but the kid driving was still a jackass.

Hmm, do you know someone who owns a Supra and spent $2,200 to rebuild? I know a couple guys who had to rebuild 700rwhp+ Supras and they had to cough up $8-10k+ when it was all said and done. I'm not going by internet catalog prices, going by what people actually spend.

Anyways, I know you love to defend Supras, don't get so defensive, the stock motors are tough but in reality, (not in internet land where every stock supra motor/trans/IRS handles 1000rwhp+) failures do happen like with any platform.

I do...my buddy who bought a rough '94 mkiv with a messed up shortblock replaced it with a stock shortblock and had the auto built by BoostLogic. I was simply telling you what you could replace what he had in that car for. He ended up spending about $5500 for the shortblock plus trans and converter and had a setup that has been handling almost 750hp for quite some time now. Not bad if you ask me.

If you decide to go all out and do everything, then of course the price will add up. Just as it would for any car, but if you replace the shortblock then I don't see how you are saying it would be extremely expensive when the shortblocks are on par with most other shortblocks and actually cheaper for one that can handle the abuse it does.

Well the only the guys I knew with Supras were making between 700-900rwhp, when they went to rebuild they obviously went with a stronger than stock setup to avoid failure again. Not all out by any means. Both of them had big $$$$ invested in their cars though, and when they had to rebuild it WAS FAR from $2,200.

All I said was that's going to be an expensive rebuild, don't read into it too much.
