there will be no lights on the car, it will be undercover he said, in theory i think it would cause more high speed chases. he would want to lose their car, much less lose it to a system that could potentially do it again. it is pretty f***** up. i would rather my car crushed then seeing a cop drive it, no offense to cops.
nothing wrong with street racing.... a deserted road and 2 people racing... nothing wrong with it. I don't agree with these gay roll races that people do in traffic.
*ring ring*
"Hello"
-"Hey... you want your ass smoked tonight?"
"**** you! Be right there. "
*wait the track isnt open*
"meet me a such and such"
Nothing wrong with going out where no one is and on deserted street. Save the choir boy acts for someone who really gives a shit. I can understand a cop breaking it up but taking their car is ****ed up.

I do agree that racing in traffic or any crowded area is dumb, but taking your possession, that you own, is wrong IMO... Hell if they wanted to, they can take your s@@t for speeding....
I will agree with you the punishment doesnt fit the crime... Will I admit I have street raced before yes, will I admit its stupid yes. Having said that I make sure there are no innocent bystanders in proximity.
But **** if you are going to take my car and make it a police car do it to the asshole that drinks and drives! I bet more accidents happen from drunk drivers and people running redlights then street racing, in my opinion its way overhyped.
And as for the drug dealers getting impounded, hell they are ON DRUGS.... They kill people for no reason, steal, rob, rape... They don't even deserve to drive....

More people have been killed by drunk drivers than street racing. More people have been killed in plane crashes than street racing. More people have been killed by dumb ****ing idiots who have a gun collection and want to kill people, than street racing. Seems to me that authorities need to focus on more pressing issues than taking someones car. **** em.
I don't think it is right at all. The cars should be sold at auction just like any other seized car.
Back in my hometown, police seized a supercharged 94 GT from a drug dealer and they had an officer drive it as his partol car for over a year. He had a couple people make the mistake of taking the bait and messing around with him on the highway when they first put it into commission and they got arrested, but everyone quickly wised up to their BS.
I don't street race, but even if I did and they seized my car, it wouldn't be much good to them when they couldn't drive it over speed bumps, into driveways or parking lots, or anywhere that has pot holes (good luck with that in Pittsburgh!)

I think it should be on a scenario basis. I'm not quite sure taking their cars is the right thing to do. I think if you seen people racing in crowded traffic bobbing and weaving through traffic then I could see them wanting to confiscate the vehicles. I think if they were caught racing down some empty country road where no one is around then issue a ticket/fine and deal with it that way. Like I said I think it should be dealt with on a scenario basis and not if you are just street racing period. It's a big deal to take someones car especially this person not having this car anymore and having to still pay for it if they owe on it for example.
Just like somoene else mentioned. They should be taking peoples car if they are excessively speeding as well then. I see people driving to and from work doing excessive speeds of 90mph 95mph sometimes. Some also mentioned about drunk drivers which also makes a valid point. No they are not street racing but they could be just as dangerous as someone street racing if they lose control or whatever the case may be. I just feel there should be more discernment in how they go about dealing with "street racing".
By the way what is the big secret of these cars now? They have pictures and videos posted on the web. If you live in Charlotte just be aware of a Blue 350Z and 2003 Cobra LOL. If you see anything even remotely close.

So, you have never passed someone and they speed up and you passed them anyway... That is considered street racing!!!! But my Q was, broken the law, not just racing...
Glad i do not live in stupid nc, taking your car for racing, thats some bull. Glad I live in Illinois were all they do is slap you with a fat ticket. Would of rather my car be drivin off a bridge into the side of a mountain, than it be in the hands of a pig. Gets annoying how stupid cops can do things like this, so you buy a cobra to do what have fun with it and race it. I mean that is why I bought mine. Then a cops can just come and take it. That is ****ed up.

ehhh....i would just crash my car if i knew it was going to be taken by them
its my property...i paid for it and everything that is done to it...they shouldnt just be able to take it unless it was a good cause(racing in lots of traffic and putting lots of peoples lives in danger rather than just me and the guy im racing)
also, if i still owed money on it and they took it, then i think they should take the payments away from me and they should pay it
This is messed up. I agree, if they're going to do this, then they should take the cars from everyone who speeds. And drunk drivers are a much bigger danger than anyone else on the road. Tell me I'm wrong.
To me, this seems like baiting, a precursor to entrapment. This is NOT going to fix the street racing problem. This is just cops wanting to have sweet rides, so they take/steal them from street racers. If cities like Charlotte truly want to eliminate illegal street racing, they need to fund race tracks where racers can go LEGALLY. Otherwise, the problem will continue.
