Honestly, its pretty funny, something tells me these cars arent going to be the normal patrol cars, theyll just have em out there as undercover cars... and probably arent going to have the ever loving shit beat out of them

i Think there should be a distinction between a quick run and street racing, as long as youre not EXCESSIVELY breaking the speed limit, or endangering bystanders, shit like this shouldnt happen,(like what probably 75% of motorists do on a monthly basis) but if youre participating in a F&F style street race, racing 100+ down streets and all that bullshit, by all means, take their cars, and screw em over.

but that being said, i dont see why just TAKING someones possession that they have paid for is legal...

FYI: Wreckless Driving is a misdemeanor. Evading is a felony. I've been here done that. My 86 GT was impounded for 9 months and almost seized but released on a technicality. I'd be concerned with the level of entrapment here. If this happened to me I would bring to attention the fact that it appears as though they are deliberately targeting and provoking nice cars, rather than soliciting the act of racing. There is a difference.

There is definitely 100% something wrong with this picture.

I can understand a 3 strikes policy, but you can't take someone elses car on the first offense. Outrageous!

Agree one hundred percent. Take evryone elses car that comits a crime with it too.
Street racing is wrong, ill admit that. So are alot of other things. Give a guy a huge fine or something. Chances are he wont be able to afford his sweet car anymore. Problem solved. And the cops would prob make more money that way.

It seems to me like an abuse of power...

There is too fine of a line between keeping the streets safe and taking cars for department gains.

Authority figures should NOT be allowed to gain royalties off other people by doing their jobs... There is too much incentive to be dishonest...

If you put people in a position to be dishonest, the bad apples will do just that...

Heavy fines are the better solution imho.

To me, this seems like baiting, a precursor to entrapment. This is NOT going to fix the street racing problem. This is just cops wanting to have sweet rides, so they take/steal them from street racers. If cities like Charlotte truly want to eliminate illegal street racing, they need to fund race tracks where racers can go LEGALLY. Otherwise, the problem will continue.
THANK YOU!!! For all you people who have never done anything wrong and keep saying take it to the track.I am not driving my car 30+ miles just to get a few WOT runs in and then drive 30+ miles back home. If this is your solution to the problem then start telling more cities to start funding money for tracks(not ever city has a track you know).Otherwise this problem is never going to end and it is just going to piss people off the way it is being handled.

I'm all for it. Sure I've street raced. It's all the way stupid. Nothing you can say will make it not stupid. If the police took my car because of a street race I'd sure learn a lesson.

So I say F'em take their cars.

Now you want to call passing someone street racing? You just going to keep re-defining it as necessary?

If I pass someone, it is to go faster. If they speed up and I no longer need to pass them because now we are going the speed I want, I get back in behind them. As long as I am going where I intend to go, at the speed I intend to travel, I don't care if anyone else is beside, in front of, or behind me.

Well, ok then. You are grown up enough to have a driver's license. you know the risks, the consequences and the complete lack of rewards of street racing. So go on take your chances. Don't learn anything, never think twice, and maybe, start looking for a bicycle. Odds are with this attitude you won't be driving a car for long.

Somehow Im sure theyve stopped more than 24 street racers since this was implemented. So where are the other cars? Were they stolen too? Or are they only taking the ones the chief likes?

IMO this is going too far. I dont street race but I see this as abuse of power. I could give more opinion but it really wouldnt matter. Ill be nice. LOL

Some of you need to read the rules and quit bypassing the profanity filter.

Those some and the rest of you need to quit blaming the cops.

Blame your law makers, not the law enforcers.

But before that blame the street racers that caused all this.

I blame "The Fast and The Furious." When I was in high school we would all go race on a deserted county road and no one would say crap about it. Then that movie came out and then documentaries and suddenly its this secret world where the secretly modified cars exceed 60mph. Its really ridiculous.

I saw something one time where they were talking to this "street racer." They asked him how fast he had been in his car... and with a big smile he said "105 mph." WOW!

I know its irrelevant but those kinds of douche bags are the ones that give the rest of us a bad name. They are the ones that roll race in traffic and wreck their fwd when trying to "drift" using the E-Brake.

To me... Authorities focus on too many of the wrong things... There are too many underage kids drinking and driving, too many kids addicted to meth and other drugs. I wish they would clean the streets up by getting rid of the drugs; not by taking a hard working, asset to society's car. Its all BS.

Amen, its the same lawmakers that will make it happen someday that if you make a stupid mistake like this they will take your house too. It doesnt seem right the government is allowed to take our property, kind of seems like what our country's founding fathers fought to get away from but we are right back to it. Maybe I am wrong but it seems this way to me. Tax this tax that, and lets take your possessions too. now before someone says there has to be a punishment, yes there should be, like license suspension or revocation, community service, even jail time if need be for extreme cases.

Lol one of the main guys who street races around here is in his 40s has a wife and 2 kids and they come and hang out with him at the meet up spot.

Good try with the young idiots remark though. In fact out of all the people I know that street race, I can count 5 right off the top of my head that are over 40. So what no longer qualifies as young? 50? 60? Maybe its just whenever your dick stops getting hard

Is that why you're so bitter?
