i fully agree with it. street racing has killed people senselessly. sorry, what should they do slap you on the wrist and let you pay a fine? how much of a deterrent is that. also, considering that lots of street racing involves money, it makes it legal for them to confiscate them due to fruit of illegal activities. no different than a drug dealer.
fwiw, i don't street race. if i did and got caught KNOWING that is a penalty i have no reason to gripe about it.

Don't street race. I don't see anything wrong with what they're doing.....If some street racer killed your wife, kid, or close relative would you think this punishment was too much?

If a street racer killed someone with their car...
A. There would be no car to confiscate
B. That would be the least of anyones worries
But yet, why won't they take the car's of drunk drivers? I bet i know, 9 out of 10 times their cars are pieces of crap. And normally people who do street race have a nice or expensive fast car.
I can't believe how easy people get off with DUI's, it makes me sick. My cousin who is UNDER 18 has had 2 DUI's. He went to a couple AA meetings and then went to court, and let him keep his license. And yea, he still drinks. People like that should have their cars taken.
I'm not saying people who street race shouldn't get their cars taken (because it's extremely stupid in the first place), but not on the first offense, at least. I think it'll cause a lot more people to run in fear of loosing their ride.

Really! I remember when I didnt have a fast car and would go watch the street racing some 15 years ago and it was all in fun and not one person was hurt or killed. Stupidity kills. The only reason we all went out was because there was no where to race legally, no where but 3 hours a way. The local governments are addressing this problem wrong, they are stealing someone's property.
I do agree that street racing is wrong and if you are caught you should do the time or pay penalties or loss of license but the government should not be allowed to take property unless proven it was aquired illegally, like drugs. Car racing has been around since the car was invented, the governments need to make it more attainable to have legal racing instead of closing tracks in a neighborhood near you. I have seen 2 tracks close in the last 6 years that should be open but the local governments dont help, as the 1 track was closed due to difficult road access to track, county wanted double what the owner could get the road paved for privately, but he couldnt afford it and the other was due to city expansion and noise complaints so the city put the fist down on the track. Kind a crappy if you ask me. Now tell me why do you have a fast car if your not gonna go out and race it or speed a bit or even get on it? The closest real strip is 3 hours away, now what, are you gonna sell it and buy a camry? Probably not cause you like the performance and its worth it to maybe sneak a race or speed once in awhile. Right? dont lie, otherwise your wasting what the car was built for, but your probably one of the lucky ones that live where a track is near by. Oh wait I guess we could all move close to one right Like I said once the punishment should never be property taken by government unless the property was attained by illegal activity. I just see this as our governments taking more control of our lives but hey we need that right Maybe you do but I dont. I have been very compitent in my judgements and yes I have street raced a few times but never where I could hurt or kill someone and I never have been caught and dont ever plan on it and dont do it for money just the adrenaline rush. This is the principal of the matter to me. Government control, we need more....right!!

Well, ok then. You are grown up enough to have a driver's license. you know the risks, the consequences and the complete lack of rewards of street racing. So go on take your chances. Don't learn anything, never think twice, and maybe, start looking for a bicycle. Odds are with this attitude you won't be driving a car for long.
Jim Snover
yeah I guess you are right..Since i've never gotten a ticket for anything or pulled over for that fact. I have only run somebody to MAYBE!! 70mph in a 55mph speed limit or higher with little to NO! traffic on the road. I wouldn't even really consider that a street race...So I guess I should start looking for a bike now
This gives way to shady cops coercing the situation to a give up. Not liking it. Just like the recent vid where the cops planted drugs right in front of their own camera. Just not right. Crush or sell.
