A buddy of mines Civic SI gettin' it done...

We had a track day this past weekend. It was a ton of fun with a LOT of sick cars. The track was hookin' well and the weather was perfect.

Anyway, a friend of mine got a new best in his civic so he was pretty excited and I was happy for him.

Oh, stock bottom end....

here is a list of several high hp complete stock bottom end b16's off of honda-tech.com. (Most of the E.T.s are not very impressive for the power but that isn't your argument)

B16:
1. Randys 630whp and 390tq on 118. (10.97@131)
2. C squared motorsports 511whp GSR head/GSR tranny....(10.84@134)
3. Jockobo 407.1whp 287.3 GSRhead B16 bottom E85 (10.7@131mph)
4. mike@synapse motorsport 405who 270tq GT3076r VP12 race gas
5. redline130 393 whp 261 ftlbs, C16 (11.65 @ 125mph)
6. SLS_Mike 378 whp 258 tq, 14 psi, 57 trim
7. popnvtec 375 whp E85 GT35R
8. marques4130 350 whp sunoco 112 best (11.8 @ 119 @ 4200 ft)
9. 98gsrTEG 344whp@1 bar on pump gas
10. Black SI 344whp on a stock b16 @14psi

How long did they last? I dont know but i know some people have had very good luck with stock bottom ends. Personally i have a sleeved block with different rods and pistons because i put a hole in my stock block. I never even attempted to run stock pistons/rods with boost though.

I've been surprised what some cars can do on borrowed time. It may not be reliable but its definitely possible.

He tunes cars for a living and he's running a Motec on this car so he has it dialed in pretty good.

This was obviously on a race tune and he was running E100.

Mike(from Synapse) is a good friend of mine, car held together for months then he sold it to build the B18 setup that went 10.90@142. Another friend of mine Matt (also tuned/built@Synapse)made 496whp on a STOCK B18 and went 11.0@128. He tried for 500whp but it started lifting the head and pushed some coolant out. That car ran for a full season until it was parted out as well.

yeah there is a shop in my area called Speed Factory and all they do is build hatches and coupes that run in the 11-9s. kinda makes me sick... but, they are nowhere near street legal or reliable/docile enough to run around on the street, which makes me feel a little better.

Really? The ones they pump out of Synapse are all over the street, and fast a f*ck!! Brooks has a 738whp(on C16) car that he takes out on the weekends, when its not destroying transmissions lol.

yea ive seen pics and videos of some of the badass cars they have done.
Some people prefer to do things that make their car less streetable but many of the low 10/9 sec cars can be and are driven on the street.
Driveability is far from stock but still manageable.
