Ok one of my buddies has a 2003-2004 Saleen 281SC ......I have not rode in the car or seen it even run. I know they have like 385HP , but does anyone know what they run in the 1/4 mile, I have heard like high 12's at 110 mph, but i am not sure if thats true. Also what do they put down number wise. I will race him in my car when I get it back, but in the meantime i might race him in one of my friends 01 SS it has a LID and CORSA Catback ... car runs very good from a roll. Just curious so let me know what you guys think. Thanks.
Just here-say (so kind of pointless for me to post), but I have heard they dyno real low (~310-320) and the ~380HP rating was very generous.
Hopefully someone can chime in and confirm or deny that.

I deal with these cars everyday, and they certainly do not feel like 375+hp should. They get heatsoaked very easily, and you've got to pin the throttle almost through the floorboard for them to even pass 5 psi. It always seems as if the 2v's are always starved for air. The powerband is not that wide (3-5300rpm), but they do hook quite well. I would say with an average driver, low 13's.

Yet I have never been to the track because my Grandfather would kick the can if I ran the car at a track, but it is common for the Extreme Saleens to run low 12's and high 11's with drag radials. S281 Supercharged Saleens run 12.9 -13.2's. The Extremes power to weight ratio is 3428, 445 HP and 450 TQ. Turn the boost up and mid 11's will be child's play like Mustang & Fast Fords wrote.
I believe they dynoed more the 360rwhp for the E, I know a guy that ran 11s with just DRs. The S281 with a decent driver shoud be able to run what a stock T runs...

I will confirm it. A family member had, all at the same time, 4 different series 4 SC saleens ranging from 2000-2003 model years & the first E ever built.
One was a SA 20 (now sold) that was never driven but it had the exact same setup as the 2 other "regular" SC cars and they were dogs. The fourth (now sold) had been previously retuned by someone who knew their shit and also had ported heads or something else I can't remember off the top of my head. When my 04 cobra was bone stock to the filter, I -might- have put 1/2 a car on him from a 40-100 roll.
The only SC they haven't sold run's consistent 13.5's on powershifts at firebird. They still own the E as well.
I have never actually seen one run at the track, but i'm figuring a little higher than the average 03/04 cobra would be normal times .The 03 S-281 Supercharged had hardware changes to increase performance. A Saleen Series IV Lysholm twin-screw supercharger replaced the Roots-style blower previously used. The new blower provides greater thermal efficiency and works in conjunction with a new high-efficiency, high-density water-to-air intercooler. .
I think the twin-screw blower / PowerFlash computer/ 2.5-inch high-flow exhaust/help up its performance from previous years.Ratings are 375-h.p. @ 5,800 and 415 ft lb tq@ 3,500, respectively. The torque curve for this engine is much fatter and much flatter than the 99-02 year models. And the horsepower curve is much broader, so this motor pulls more strongly all the time." This is what Mr. Saleen said to 5.0 mag a while back and these where the price's quoted then:
Base price on the supercharged S-281 is $42,788 for the coupe and $46,807 for the ragtop.
Saleen Extreme dyno's 420 RWHP stock per Mustang's & Fast Fords June 03 Vol #16. Rumor has it that the new Saleen Extreme dyno's at 550 RWHP and its factory rating (Flywheel HP) is 550.
E=Extreme
After only one year on the market, you'd be forgiven if you thought Saleen would stand pat with the S-281 Extreme, the top of the line Saleen ponycar. After all, it comes with a handbuilt 4.6, specially prepared for boost and insane velocities with forged internals and custom-ground cams. But Saleen did not stand pat. A 75mm throttle body replaces the previous 65mm unit, the supercharger blows through the new intercooler from the S-281, and the same high-flow exhaust system is fitted as well. A reprogrammed PowerFlash ties it all together and the result is 445 hp at 6,000 rpm and 450 lb-ft of torque at 4,000, increases of 20 and 10, respectively. Making the delivery even more enthralling is a 3.55:1 final drive, versus 3.08 in 2002. So you can imagine what our reaction was when Saleen wanted to know if we'd drag test one.
But not just any S-281E. While every one of these very limited production vehicles is special, we got to sample the very Lizstick Red model shot featured in The Fast & Furious, 2. We felt like such celebrities, even though the car gets blown up in the flick.
So it was off to Raceway Park for a little drag-o-rama. First we'd test it on the factory-issue Pirelli PZero Rosso tires (P265/35ZR18), then we'd give it a whirl on Mickey Thompson slicks. After that, it was a date with the dyno at Crazy Horse Racing.
Actually, let's give you the dyno results first. Corrected to 56 degrees, 12.5 percent humidity and a barometer of 30.05 percent, the Extreme punished the CHR dyno to the tune of 416.6 hp and 405.2 lb-ft of torque. Little wonder our drag strip numbers were as good as they were.
How good? Let's just say our worst pass on street tires was a 12.567 at 113.89. We followed that up with a pair of 12.23s at over 116 mph (best 60-foot of 2.004). After a brief cool down, we gave it one last shot on radials. Test driver Evan Smith slipped the clutch while feeding the throttle and got off with a very clean 1.902 60-foot. He found all four gears en route to a blistering 12.195 at 114.71 mph. That is far superior to our best-ever 12.43/113 in a stock '03 Cobra.
With 28x10.5-inch slicks, we had both good and less than great results. In the plus column, we clicked off a pair of 11s, an 11.945 at 116.24 and an 11.855 at 115.54. To the negative, no matter how high we launched the little 4.6, the car bogged--like going from 5,000 rpm to 500 before recovery. We attributed this to the combination of an aluminum flywheel and lack of gearing. This same car with 4.10s would be an easy mid-11-second ride.
Still, it's hard to argue with anything that goes 12.19 in factory trim. That's ZO6 Corvette territory, albeit at a greater price. With an MSRP of $60,586, the Saleen is nearly $10k more than the Vette. Of course, for this you get far greater exclusivity (fewer than 100 built per annum) and don't have to suffer the indignity of driving a Chevy.

Just to update this thread. This particular saleen raced a Mach1 with a cat back (not corysmach1). The mach put at least four cars on him from a 20 roll. Wasn't impressed with the saleen. The driver of the saleen wasn't the best driver but it was obvious the mach was the faster car.

i highly doubt 4 cars would be the normal outcome btw these 2 cars lol. seeings how the saleen dynos about 40 more rwhp id say the saleen driver was some old man who never gets on it. most saleen owners are rich ppl who just wanna have a saleen and cant drive it to its full potential. equal drivers the saleen should win everytime stock for stock.

I'm gonna put it like this and correct me where I'm wrong... The older S281SCs were rated at 365, and when the s281-E debuted, it was rated at 425. The same year that Roush upgraded from a 360R to a 380R, Saleen boosted the SC up 10 HP to 375... and 20 on the E model at 445 hp. I've read numerous columns and articles and posts about the 360R, even though rated at less than earlier SCs, putting down more on the dyno. The one I recall had the 360R puttin down 336 rwhp, and the 365 hp SC making 327 rwhp... As far the E- cars go, my buddy has an 02 E-model, he bought it used so I don't know what was done to it, it's not pullied and has stock exhaust. But with it running lean (not too good on that pricey car) but it made 392 rwhp and 393 lb.-ft. And I am wanting to say that it had a 4.5 inch upped pulley but, I'm not sure. I know for a fact it was at least a 4 inch pulley. We tell him someone put his dukie wheel on his blower... LOL . But since I just gave my 2 cents, I'M BROKE!!! So later fellas!!!

If the early S281sc run low 13's,why the new body style SC Saleens are that much fester or the one in the video had some mods.I was at WFC9 and saw this one Click here to see Video
