I dont understand why people are saying it's still a focus or that it's still ugly. I dont think his question was what kind of car he drove or what it looked like. Anyway lets just say you're car is somewhat close to as fast as the car in the vid. If you can trap low 130's without spray....which you said you would get. Then you should have the top end advantage no problem with a basic KB/whipple car. Especially if you spray even a small shot on top of that. From a 40 roll I see you just thrashing the tires unless you're on slicks or a badass drag radial....or start in 3rd. I think from 40-140 the cobra will edge you out with you comming back a little at the very end. just my opinion. And btw I like your car. Not many focus' out there, atleast that I know about, that are putting that kind of power out. Impressive!

Eric. a 60 roll would deff help you out ALOT! I say run him from the 60, then depending on the out come, run him at 40 and see how you do. If he's not a doosh bag, he'll agree. Raceing is for fun anyways.
your right racing is definitely for fun... Yeah i will ask him... i wonder if he is ever on this forum.. He lives in San Marcos Tx. I wouldn't be upset if i lost .. As long as i am close to him and knowing the fact that a 4 cylinder is capable of doing so then that would make me very very happy! This Race is not going to take place for like another month.. Still waiting on the motor.

I think its their natural tendencies to be dickheads. Anyways, sounds like it would be a badass race. You really have too much power for fwd. But, so does a lightning 90% of the time if it doesn't have drag radials or slicks. Whatever you do don't blow the tires off. If you do, your adrenaline will be pumping so much you'll probably spend most of the race trying to stop the wheel spin. Just try to do damage control out of the hole, then try and gain the ground you lost on the top end. Have fun, and be safe. Next time say your going to race a sprayed civic or neon and you'll probably get more favorable replies. LOL
what does ur car run now with 270hp ? thats still sick power for a 2700lb focus,I mean in my 95 gt, i kno 270rwhp will get my 3400lb 5.0 down to low 13's high 12's in the 1/4, that little car doesnt need much, I agree with the guys dont go for to high of numbers in that little car pull some weight out and get about 350-400hp max that should be more than enough and have less traction issues. goodluck with the build.
His car weighs roughly 3,664 lbs stock. I'm assuming after mods (and I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt) he weighs 3,800 lbs (once again, just a big number,) and divide that by 603 RWHP and you get a weight:power ratio of 6.30:1 (6.30 lbs to ever RWHP.)
Now let's do the same for your car:
2,700/500=5.4 - I gave you the benefit of the doubt once again because you said you will have 480+ RWHP.
So on paper, you beat him, but he'll have you in torque. There's tons of factors, so just take this with a grain of salt.
if you think about it like this...we've seen 400HP and some that are less HP'd civics weighing about 2300 lbs. walk 600HP cobras at full weight. If 10HP for every 100lbs. stands fairly true then he really only needs about 450HP to walk the cobra.
Honestly, i think if you don't just spin your ass off and you really do have 480WHP...you can definitely take him, but for God's sake! whatever happens, get it on video!
I use 55lbs injectors in my set up, and as a DD I still get 26mpg city and 30mpg highway. Tell me that's bad mpg? I can't complain about a car that get's 26mpg at worst, and runs the 1320 in 12.6.
Isn't that better gas mileage than a stock SVT focus?
I always see these crazy calms on my350z.com. "I put a TT kit with 750cc injectors, now I have 550rwhp and I get better gas mileage." Maybe if you compare driving WOT 100% of the time when it's stock, then driving like a grandma when it's modded then I could see it possible. Otherwise it doesn't make much sense.
More power, bigger injectors, same gearing = better gas mileage?

The stock focus im guessing runs extremely rich from the factory, and my friend still got 30-32mpg with his stock svt focus on the freeway, remember they are a 6speed. If you have a decent tune on a car there is no reason why a 500rwhp 2.0L shouldn't get 30+mpg on the highway.. now driving with a heavy foot is a way different story..
I actually get better MPG now with a built motor, bigger injectors, and a tune then when I did when it was stock, but the stock tune would run pig rich. I think when I was stock the best I could get on the freeway was like 26/27mpg, now I get over 30mpg, and im still on the stock AFM system, with a standalone I would net even better milage.

I def. want to see that video. I think it will be a good fight either way. I am not familiar enough in personal experience w/ either car so good luck and give her hell.
Turbo cars can also brake boost, that means you have full boost by the time that the race starts (by holding down the brake pedal and hitting the gas) so the "torque jump" doesn't necessarily apply when you race a turbo car.
