My 03 Cobra vs. H/C GTO

I'm not 100% sure what mods are on the GTO besides heads and cam, I've heard intake and LTs as well. The guy is real cool but I really thought his car would hang with me a little better. You'll see in the video that my intercooler pump is out so I'm def down on some power.

The other run was against a 87 camaro ZZ4 motor with heads and cam and nitrous. He said the nitrous didn't spray when we ran because his switch was messed up. We were supposed to have a rematch when both of our cars were running right but his motor messed up the other day and now he's going big block... Video was taken by captin smokey.

1,000 posts! yay!

Do not drive your car hard with a broken inter-cooler pump ever. To much heat means motor go bye-bye. For sure with this 4.6 motor.

Yeah, it's fixed now... I have two friends that had their motor blow while doing highway pulls

He said it worked when he was behind the first race but he said he doesn't think it worked when he ran me. Either way, my intercooler pump wasn't working and it was a back to back run from 40mph! Quite possibly the worst roll-race for a Cobra. Me and him both have a long list of excuses for that night. Both our cars weren't running like they normally do. We'll never know who would have won if both our cars were running like they should.

That camaro was a suprise. They dont weigh much. Me and a buddy put a 350 (.040 over ) with a nice cam and a set of heads with a stall in his g/fs 86 maro. Looks like shes gonna be a beast if we ever finish it.

Nice runs. That goat didn't seem to run well with the quoted mods or maybe he needs the "Driver mod." H/C, bolt-ons 6.0 GTO should be anywhere from 440-480 rwhp depending on type of head work and cam. Add a FAST intake and some real heads we have seen almost 500 rwhp but that is rare because the cost of those last 2 mods.

Hmmm. Good win. We have that setup 05/06 goats running 11.4-11.5s here. Maybe no stall on that auto. My buds come out hard with their stall in the 1.5 60s.

With that kind of power (660+ rwhp) I would expect some 10s though. Maybe a pair of 15s with some good rubber.

At the track he ran high 8s low 9s (1/8th mile)... I don't know what tires he was on but I'm sure that car has more in it.

Holy crap, the IRS swap saves 300lbs or did you do some more weight reduction? That's awsome! If you slap on some 275 - 315 Mickeys on the stock 17s you would have some serious stick!

Those are really weak #s for his setup unless he is on stock rubber and has no traction. When I was bone stock on stock tires I ran 8.90s in my 6 speed. Now I run 6.70s (in the 1/8th, that is)

6.70! Damn! That's pretty damn good. What would you guess a car like that "should" run with sticky tires?

I run mid-low 7's.

I run mid-low 7's.
If we are talking bolt-ons, cam, stall, and DRs then

If its a LS1 GTO then 7.9-8.0
If its an LS2 GTO then 7.7-7.8

My best guess.

lol, well I guess you were right BayareaSS, I only come across the underpowered cars or the cars that don't have a driver. The guy was pretty cool, but I expected a little more (those times were what people told me he ran at the track )

I should have another race this week sometime with a 414 SS Camaro. I ran him last thurs but I think he wants to run again. I'll post up a video of it.

EDIT: I just heard he ran a 7.9 the other night... they said he was spinning during the other runs.

If the 414 SS doesnt beat you pretty good then i dont know what to say LOL. The SS should be over 500hp fairly easy so it should run hard. BUt who knows at this rate. Good Luck

I think he's making around 550ish... we ran last thurs from 50mph and he put 1.5 cars on me. I'm assuming he's thinking he should beat me by more so he wants to run again... He might be getting it retuned I know for sure I'm not going to win, I think he's just suprised about how close we were...
