Well, I was driving around town with a friend on my lunch break when we hear this stupid loud exhaust behind us. I was expecting a cammed Camaro or Trans Am but to my surprise it was a black 05 extended cab Chevy truck. He pulled up next to me at the red light and asked me how my car ran. I told him it ran decent and he said well we will see. At that point I had no option but to run him. We pulled out and I got the jump. I may have put 2 cars on him, but at the bottom of third he was coming strong. By the time I hit fourth he was passing me and steadily pulling. We stoped at a gas station and talked for a while. He said he had a built 6.0/tranny with a cam, 411 gears, and a bunch of other stuff. All I know is that I just got a ticket for my car being to loud and he rung my ears with the windows down. I ran a 13.30 on Nittos so my car isn't fast, but I definitely wasn't expecting that. I will be ready next time though, the nitrous is on the way

i know exactly who that is, black 22's on it? If so thats my friend, he went 13.20. Strong running truck. I raced him the other day and held him by a fender from a 55 punch. I figured you would have beat him on the street, btw i think you bought my old nitrous kit?
Yep I did buy your old nitrous kit and it must be a different guy. This truck didn't have 22s on it, but I would guess that the truck was probably a low 13 second truck. I don't know why but my car seem to run really slow on the second half of the track. I get pulled by stock 3 valves pretty steadily after third. He never put an entire length on me, but he definitly was catching me on the top end. I didn't get to run him for long though because my differential decided to explode on me.
A duramax maybe? How much power are you making O.P?
Doubt it. From his description probably a 6.0 LQ4 or LQ9 gasoline engine truck(these are popular swaps into Fbody's for the extra displacement). I think the LQ4's are rated around 320hp and the LQ9's around 350 and they both make very good torque. With a cam and supporting mods they can be made to run. I would love to have a H/C/I 6.0 regualr cab Silverado to play with.

they make a Chevy Silverado MAX that has a 367 hp/ 375 6.0l(L76) the same engine as the Pontiac G8 GT. when i was driving it seemed to have plenty of go and i kept spinning out all over. but i wouldn't think it would be able to beat a stock GT let alone yours. however modded.......i bet it could get nasty. this could have been what you encountered

I am not sure how much power I am making but you can look at my mods listed in my sig. This was a motor that the guy built and dropped into this truck. I respect anything fast, and I would love to have a fast truck. I am actually looking to get a lightning right now. It would be hard to find a better feeling than outrunning a vette with my fourwheeler in the back.

Nope.... I know alot about how fast trucks are being I race alot of them in my Roush Truck. You have to remember, most trucks are 5000+ pounds and at that weight it takes near 500hp and at least 500tq with perfect traction to break into the 12's if you are the lightest of trucks like mine (4900#). Most are heavier then me.
I am sure it is not slow (maybe 14's), but trucks are deceiving when you try to use the Pant-O-meter. When you have a quick truck, it feels ungodly fast because with so much mass and weight moving quickly, it feels intense.
To the OP...Nice Run and I am surprised at the results. Most trucks are quick off the line and die out fast at higher speeds because of gearing and aerodynamics. If you were shifting into fourth, you must have been at a very high speed. You might have something going on with your car. When you mentioned about getting pulled when in third, the first thing that came to my mind was Clutch Slip. Sometimes when clutches get heated up (ie a hard launch 1-2-3 shift) by the time you are getting to 3rd it is slipping. Don't take my word on it. Sounds like you have something going on somewhere.
Yes once again my rear end blew up on the u-turn after the race so my car could have been limping, but the truck was definitely not a 14 sec truck. I have ran consitant 13.3s with my car and this truck was with out a doubt keeping up.
Hmmm, not bad for a gas truck...I love rackin up the kills in my 12.7 1/4 miles duramax. Diesels are gettin kinda popular so its getting harder and harder to find a race.

Yes and no. While you are 100% correct about being decieved by a truck(My high 13 Lightning felt like a monster on the street)a cammed + bolt on 6.0 with all the supporting stuff(stall and possibly gears) will be faster than a 14. I see mid-low 13's as a norm most of the time traction permitting. Hell look at the TBSS, granted its an LS2 but they are getting low 13's with boltons. An LQx truck with upgraded everything can run very well.
ha ha you guys kill me. i should have said more or less like the G8 GT. but i never once said the max was fast. i said, i wouldn't think it would be able to beat a stock GT let alone yours(OPs).

That's ok Willy. I just was making sure that no one was misunderstood about the engine differences/similarities between the two vehicles.
