whatever you do, DONT go from a 30 roll, and DEFINITELY dont go from a 50roll. those 2 speeds are in the heart of the power band for a c6z (1st/2nd gear). your best bet is to go from a dig and try to hold on for dear life till 100mph, then the race will be over. good luck, get it on vid and post it up
98snake03, where do u figure he will be 500 wheel? if he is 300 on motor he is not going to gain 200whp with a 100 shot. and im not familiar with ford pushrod setups but it doesnt sound like he has a "built to the hilt setup." sounds like it is a cheaper low revving torque setup. and if thats the case, kiss your ass goodbye, ESPECIALLY from a roll.
Fox will have more torque, will probably jump out, and is anywhere from 200-300 pounds lighter....AND will probably have about the SAME average power throughout the race.
From like 120+ I think the Z will pull the fox very easily, but from a slow roll, up to about 110-120 I think this race is a very even match, considering both drivers are up to par.
I have seen videos of whipplesnakes car on streetfire, I know he can drive and has experience, what if the Z owner is new to manuals and sport cars altogether? Think outside the box people.

So your friend wants to prove how bad his 70K or whatever car is compared to a 17K car thats 20 years old. Not only that but he wants to do it in a race that is clearly to his advantage. WTF? Tell him to go get a cup of starbucks and get over it. QUOTE]
What ?
Every once in a while there is an idiot with this comment and you sir are todays idiot...Why do people always bring up the money factor? WHO CARES!
Its all in good fun man...
Dont get your feelings hurt because you drive the same car ass. My point was that the guys friend wants to race him with everything being to his advantage. OP if you give him his race make him do one from a dig.

I wasn't saying he was built like I was....I was just saying it's possible....given his mods, there is a 100-125 rwhp range of combos out there.
But 500 rwhp....very possible with a 347 built right with a 100 shot.
Maybe I read too fast, or not through all posts...I didn't know he was only making 300 rwhp. Shit...I made that with a hci stock block.
You are right as far as the lo buck setup.
I knew a guy with the Holley systemax kit on a 347 that only ran 110.

my '06 c6z on the scale at hrp was 3115. not sure where 3400 is coming from, unless someone is adding driver weight plus some cement. i'd say the 347 would only stand a chance from a pure dig scenario, hopefully geared and with a tire and driver thats adequate. the c6z's are actually easy to launch imo, but the harsh reality is vette owners as a group have a lousy cross section of launch capability. more drag racers own mustangs.
from any roll mph, the stang stands no chance against a c6z driver with even half a clue. zero. nada.

Did I write 3400? Nope, I wrote 3300-3400.
I weigh 200#'s....therefore, if I had your car it would be 3315 with me in it. 3315 happens to fall between 3300 and 3400. Did you have a full tank at the track? This is a street scenario. If I weighed 300#'s.....I think you probably comprehend by now.
Well, come to find out...the guy who owns the vette is no rookie either. This is his 3rd, all which have been modified significantly, and he has driven the piss out of every one of them.
There is no effin way your 347 is only making 300rwhp. Ported E7s on a 302 with a decent cam cam and bolt ons can do that lol
I say it'll be somewhat close, you're not gonna lose by semi trucks but I expect you to be seeing tail lights by the end.

That 347 was getting choked by the HCI on that car and probably only was making 300rwhp or so. The B-cam is a baby cam. If the race had happened the Z06 pulls off in 2nd. With a nicely built 347 and a 125-shot from a dig you could have pulled him by a few lengths to 125. From a roll it's dead even to 100 and after that he runs away.

I think the fox will do fine, roll or dig.
i think i comprehend just fine....you need to step away from the crack pipe
2LZ (there was no 3lz option in '06). i weighed it at hrp on two occasions, both with about 1/3 tank gas. i thought long and hard about getting a 1lz, but i really wanted the telescoping wheel and memory seats with the "easy out". but damn, i didn't think it added 50lbs. 3060 is really light. my '02 c5z was about 3046 in street trim. it was 2999 with a ccw drag pack
Wonder if they raced? Waiting for whipplesnake to tell everyone the Z killed him by atleast 20+ cars!!
20+ cars
uuuu, probably not that bad - lol...but i'm still going out on a limb and saying if YOU drove each car on several 1/4 passes and a few bonzai top end runs....you might just rethink the match. forget about other drivers....just you and you alone. eliminate driver variance all together and thats what the cars themselves boil down to
this is post 36# The vet owners description of the race
Yes, we did run. He jumped out hard in 1st gear, but by the time we shut down at the very top of 3rd, he had me by about 2-3feet....it was a very very close race! and a very good race! I would like to run him again with no passenger

Why do I need to re-think anything?
Seems as if I am the one that knows better/more in this particular situation, no?

Now, time to go smoke some crack.....
how much did the stang spray? a 100 or a 200 there's no way full street trim with a 100 shot he pulled a c6z...not unless the car weighs 2600 with everything ripped out of it. what is the exact setup on the stang
