The story goes that my friend, the owner of a Pontiac G8 GT (Intake, Headers, Catless Mid-Pipe, SLP Powerflow CB, and a mail order tune) Outran a 03/04 Cobra.
He claims they raced from a roll 3 times and he got him each time by 2 or 3 lengths. I dont know the car but even if it was bone stock i have a hard time believing it.
This happened awhile ago but he claims he saw the car again and took a pic of it and sent it to me.
It can happen, like ^ he said anything can happen on the street. If it was a stock cobra then maybe, if it was a shitty driver and a stock cobra then def. ya. Pullied cobra, don't think so...

I am married with one son now & hope to have more kids someday. If you'd have told me ten years ago I'd type that sentence, I'd offer to drive you to the closest psychiatric hospital for a full evaluation. But, with things how they are I really like the G8 GT and the extra room it offers. I think it looks badass and like seeing them able to back up the looks. I would actually love to have one with a few mods to make it sound good and move out as well as it looks.
plausible for sure, especially if the guy in the cobra wasn't a great driver. I love those g8's, the chevy re-badged version isn't nearly as attractive though.
from a dig I can see a bolt on g8 beating a 03 cobra with a bad driver, esp since the g8 is auto all he has to do it floor the go pedal lol but ur friend says he beat him more then once and a from a roll I dont see it happening from a roll unless he had more mods and the cobra was bone stock with a dumb driver who didnt downshift because the advantage would then go to the automatic g8
I know, for a fact; that a G8 GT with intake, headers & exhaust, tune, and a DR will go 12.50s@110mph. I was there, beside him in my car. Have the timeslip from Cecil County to prove it.
Whether he walked said Cobra 3 times remains to be seen to me. Maybe, if it was a bone stock Cobra with a bad driver; I could definitely see that as being the outcome. A pullied Cobra, not so much IMHO. Not that I know much about Cobras.

A stock Terminator isn't anything special at all. They are all about *potential* and easy modding. The G8 is a awesome ride, but put $1000 into both cars off the factory floor and their isn't much a Terminator can't beat.
Possible but not likely. You can't really mess up from a roll. Everyone knows the hard part of getting a stock cobra to move is the 1st and 2nd gear wheelhop. From a roll you would get the spinning but not the hop. The cobra would have been in it's sweet spot and even with a bad driver it should have pulled on the G8.

Mine ran a 12.99 with cai and canned tune and 12.85 cai, canned tune, headers. There have been some with dyno tunes cai headers running 12.6ish.
I haven't seen any stock Cobras run but the pullied ones run high 11's
Maybe with a mediocre driver. There are dozens of Pullied cobras running mid 11's, and trapping very close to 120, if not higher.
A GREAT driver, would be a totally different story.
Just thought I'd let you know.
High 11s is maybe the average of pullied cobra's with so/so drivers. That is fair. Either way, 1/2-1 second difference = several car lengths and a bag of chips.

ok... let's see if anyone recognizes this car. (In the High Point, NC area), there were witnesses to this race but it is hard for me to believe there are still stock Cobra's out there that race lol.
