I know this place. Isn't it across the road from Sea World?
Anyways, spent 3 months at Lackland Airforce Base, lived in an apartment in San Antonio. Loved it. Beautiful country, nice people. Even thought of moving there. Born and raised in CA., tough choice. California is so over populated that it has alot of laws to keep people from killing each other. When I retire, I'll move out of CA., but IMO, it is one of the most beautiful places we got. I live in NorCal, and I'm an hour drive from the beach and an hour drive from the snow. CA. also has some of the best roads for cruising, especially on a motorcycle.
I guess I'm torn. Tough choice. I'd go with Texas for peace of mind in my later years and I'd go with California for enjoying life in my younger years.

Everything else would only come into play if you got reffed; and if you are getting reffed, its usually because you did something stupid to get noticed that bad.

Great thing about Texas is the job market and their home prices combined with low property taxes. Middle class families in Texas have a lifestyle equivalent of an upper middle class or even upper class of most other coastal states.
Our property taxes aren't low, neither is home and auto insurance.
We have a few cons living in Texas espically along the gulf coast.

Yeah, I'll give you that, there's a lot of "suck" when it comes to the people around here, especially in the Bay Area. Fortunately, I go north to places like Eureka, Cresent City, Fort Bragg and north east to Redding, Susanville and Mt. Shasta where people are more hands-on hard working, conservative, genuine and nice.

This is an urban legend. US flag code allows any state flag to fly at the same height if on separate poles. Also, Texas was not annexed by treaty (which would have nothing to do with how the flag can fly).

Sorry about that your right:
Annexation by treaty
In 1843, President John Tyler came out in support of annexation, entering negotiations with the Republic of Texas for an annexation treaty, which he submitted to the Senate.[4] On 8 June 1844, the treaty was defeated 35 to 16, well below the two-thirds majority necessary for ratification.[5] Of the 29 Whig senators, 28 voted against the treaty with only one Whig, a southerner, supporting it.[6] The Democratic senators were more divided on the issue with six northern Democrats and one southern Democrat opposing the treaty and five northern Democrats and ten southern Democrats supporting it.[7]
[edit] Annexation by joint resolution
James K. Polk, a Democrat and a strong supporter of territorial expansion, was elected president in November 1844 with a mandate to acquire both the Republic of Texas and Oregon Country.[8] After the election, the Tyler administration realized that public opinion was in favor of annexation, consulted with President-elect Polk, and set out to accomplish annexation by means of a joint resolution.[9] The resolution declared that Texas would be admitted as a state as long as it approved annexation by 1 January 1846, that it could split itself up into four additional states, and that possession of the Republic’s public lands would shift to the state of Texas upon its admission.[10] On 26 February 1845, about a month before Polk took office, Congress passed the joint resolution.[11] Not long afterward, Andrew Jackson Donelson, the American chargé d’affaires in Texas and the nephew of former president Andrew Jackson, presented the American resolution to President Anson Jones of Texas.[12] In July 1845, the Texan Congress endorsed the American annexation offer with only one dissenting vote and began writing a state constitution.[13] The citizens of Texas approved the new constitution and the annexation ordinance in October 1845 and Polk signed the documents formally integrating Texas into the United States on 29 December 1845.[14]

True. I think that if CHP simply saw me driving I would get pulled over (car is fricken loud)....don't get me wrong...I have nothing against California....it's a beautiful place. I just don't know if I would live there. I almost did once about 10 years ago...was going to try and join the CHP. But I like the fact that I can get from one side of town to another in 30 minutes and it takes me 1 minute to get to work. I guess I'm just not use to the "big city" thing.

Nah, not a domestic/muscle car anyways. If you were in a loud ass annoying import you'd get popped in seconds.
I ran a Mac o/r X with bassani catback on my 03 Cobra and it was pretty loud, and i would drive next to cops (even goosed it a bit with one) and nothing. I just installed a 3" catback on my GST and I get eyeball-raped by every cop on the road, and its not even half as loud as my Cobra was with just the bassani catback.
Only time they will give you shit is if you give them a reason to. There are exceptions, but this is the standard in any state.
No wonder you were on this thread so long last night......

I love it here. Yes there are a few arrogant jerks no matter where you go.
I moved here in 95 from Syracuse, NY and never looked back.
My brother lived in Tacoma for a while I have never lived anywhere but the "Cuse" 43 years and Spring, Texas.
There is no way in hell I would even consider living in Cali, even though both my dad's sisters moved there in the late 50s.
I miss the NY Adirondack MTNS quite a bit but I was only there summers.
The hill country here is quite beautiful and the very different regions in the state hold thier own appeal.
Bottom line...
no more shoveling snow, and the economy here is incredably robust and resilient even during bad economic times.
BTW the race tracks here are very cool! Very interesting to run and they are building more.
I consider myself a Texan now, most of the people you meet are pretty down to earth, and polite, which I found to be quite lacking in Boston, NYC, and DC.
Houston and the surrounding area have some problems but, I love that there is no big city attitude here, that really soured me to quite a number of the larger east coast cities.
Texas and I are a magnificent fit. Texas has won over my heart!
