Well, I'm in the market again and trying to decide which car. I have an 01 ss I've had my eye on for awhile. Basically a completely built ls6 motor with a very mild cam that makes 440 rwhp and 445rwtq, 12 bolt rear end, spohn suspension mods, etc. Original owner car with only 25k.
Other option is a comp orange or mystic cobra. Don't really have a specific one in mind right now.
I could probably get the camaro for 16k, whereas the cobra would probably cost me an extra 10k.
03/04's arent in the $26k range unless they have 5-10k mi and are twin turbo with built motors, and is a Comp Orange vert.
you can find a decent 30-60k mi cobra for $20-22k if you look good enough.

Either way I would prefer the car to have less than 30k on it. The camaro I'm referring to is a very low 11 sec. car....not expecting that in the cobra, but just keeping in mind what it would take to get it there.

you can get a 03/04 in that range as well, though not for $16k.
then again, i dont see the point in worrying about mileage if all you are concerned about is racing it. If youre gonna abuse the car, id save money and buy a higher mileage vehicle. Itll break just as quick as the lower mileage one when pushed to the limits.
expect about $2000 in mods for a steet fighter cobra like mine...
another $2000 and you can port it, and with a little work break into the 10's (seen it on youtube! :P)
For about 15K you can make 800hp on pump gas with the stock block haha

Have you seen a dyno sheet for this car? What do you mean by "completely built"? It's pretty rare to see that kind of torque (more than the HP) out of a built 346 unless it's a torque spike in an auto, and that would have to be one hell of a strong "very mild cam" 346 to make that kind of power through a 12-bolt and auto.
Just curious as to the details of the setup.

you have not been watching the market section then. there have been a few CO coupe's for around $20k, and i saw one for sale for $19k.
to the OP... the clear choice here is the cobra. it is a better car in every way.
Unless you prefer the looks of a Camaro.
You can change and upgrade just about anything performance-wise on either car, but you can't change the body design. If you prefer the looks of one over the other, then the "better car in every way" may not be the one you'll be happier with.

well, since the 03/04 cobra looks 1000000x better than a camaro, my statement stands true.
I think it depends on what you want out of the car and how far you want to go with mods... I see you mentioned the camaro a low 11 sec car and if thats all your concerned about is the 1/4 mile then go with the maro imo. It already has a better rear end, auto good for drag purposes, just add a small shot and your easily in the 10s. Although I guess if you look hard enough you could find a properly setup cobra for the same purpose....
