Is is interesting that the people that responed to the tread voting for the CTS-V don't have a 03-04 cobra in their sig.
Oh my god... I had that exact same thought, and then your post was next!!!
I vote for the cobra... I have a buddy with a V and he won't run me...
But don't let our opinion decide for you OP... drive both, well drive a V and then get in someone's pullied cobra (since its the first thing everyone does that changes it incredibly), and then ask yourself what you want.

New Numbers Coming...
A stock cts-v and a stock cobra would be a drivers race from a roll fwiw. A v might run a mid 13 at the track but will out run alot of 12 second cars on the highway.
They dont feel that fast because you can barely hear any wind noise, road noise, or exhaust.
well ive never raced my friend on the street but I will tell you that I have put a downright ASS WHOOPIN' on his V at the track. I would be nearly at half track by the time he hits the 60 foot. And no it diddnt feel that fast because I barely felt it suck me back into the seat.
Oh and on a side note, I still look at the V as a Cadillac (cause it is, duh) but what I mean by that is it just doesnt seem right when you see or hear one with a loud aggressive exhaust and a cam. My neighbor put flowmaster super 44's on his V and the first thing i thought/did was facepalm. I think they are sweet cars and I wouldnt mind owning one, especially a silver one like pictured above, but when you compare one to a Terminator, its no contest to me.
if its gonna be more of a DD and lightly modded (boltons/tune), CTS-V all the way.
if its gonna be a weekend car and nicely modded, 03/04 Cobra.
i think the styling of the XLR-V Convertible was always the best, but iirc the engine package was lacking compared to the CTS-V and way overpriced.

Like has been said a couple post before.
DD = V
Weekend = Cobra
My V was a weekend car and I wanted something I could beat on a little and not worry about buying a $2,500 rear just to break it the next weekend.
I've driven both cars 5+ hrs at a time and the Cadillac is SSSOOOoooooooo much nicer to ride in. The guy that bought it from me drove it from TX to MD and said that he didn't even need to stop and stretch, just had to get gas and back on the road.
I love both cars but they are both great at different things. Figure out what you want to do with the car ad it'll be an easy choice.
I've owned both and I voted V. With that said, they are really two different cars aimed at two different buyers. When I bought my Cobra it certainly wasn't Cobra vs. V and vice versa for when I purchased the Caddy. Most have covered it here, but really it comes down to what you want to use the car for; the Cobra is a sports car and the V is a luxury car.
I enjoyed the Cobra more when I was driving it hard, but honestly that was a small percentage of the time. Driving to work, school, dates, the grocery store, etc. will be much more comfortable in the V; plus, the gas mileage difference is absurd. Another aspect I haven't seen but possibly over looked is the rarity factor. I believe that there were about 10k produced from 04-07 while about double that for the Cobra 03-04.
