I've been waiting patiently since I graduated with my Bachelors in Engineering two months ago. I just got the call a few minutes ago from Cirrus Aircraft with an offer to be an engineer on the Cirrus SF-50 (Vision Jet). I interned with them last summer and loved it.
I have interviewed other places and have been turning down offers in hopes of landing this job, which was a scary thing to do! But it all payed off! The salary is lower than average, but I knew that coming into it. And it doesnt bother me cause I like going to work every morning. Hopefully ill be able to work my way up in the near future.
Anyway, maybe nobody cares, but I am super pumped and I wanted to tell somebody since my parents wont answer their phones right now!
Cirrus SF50 (still about 3 years from production)

Congratulations! Where will you be based out of? They have a manufacturing plant in my town, but I doubt they'd keep their engineers here, but I'm not exactly sure. This jet has been a long time coming too, I'm glad they decided to go forward with it.
Thanks everybody! It has been really stressful this last week waiting for everything to come together.

I dont know what class the eclipse is in now? It was supposed to compete with their first design as well as the piper jet and the Diamond. But some have ceased efforts and others have slowed. The Honda Jet will probably be leading the way as far as production time, but they are in a different class too.

Ill be in Duluth, that is where the design corporation is, along with all the sales and final assembly.
Congratulations, if I remember you posted something like this awhile back? I remember seeing those pictures.
Yeah I was looking for information on engineering related companies from around the states. I posted info about Cirrus for others who might be interested.
The have a program where you can design your own planes interior, paint, and graphics. It would be sick if SVTP got one!
Hey, glad you got the job. You sound very happy. Congratulations!!

The Eclipse 550 is almost the same as the 500. This Piper Jet is dead in the water...We wasted 6-12 mo's of design time and the mockup (interior).

The Cirrus SF50 looks like a fun little aircraft.
Where do you work then? Yeah I couldnt remember what the 550 was but i do remember the 500. I know there are a few jets out there that were all near the same stage in design. But, obviously, the economy was deadly for many of them. Luckily for Cirrus, CAIGA came through with millions of $$ for us.
The jet is amazing. Last summer we were testing the engine... basically strapped the jet down to the runway and put it at full throttle. That was an amazingly loud sound from 30ft away!
